Activities at West Abbey Care Home
Our Activities Coordinators are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in. There are regular outings in the minibus to nearby places of interest, as well as visits from the Donkey sanctuary, musicians and entertainers. We also host evenings such as our Cheese & Wine evenings and BBQ's in the summer, that we encourage relatives to come to. Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained. We encourage our residents to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can to ensure that life at West Abbey is fun and active for all.
Nikki Griffee
Hi, I'm Nikki and I originally came to work at West Abbey in 2018 and have worked in various roles supporting our residents.
What I enjoy about my job is that no two days are the same and most of all, I thoroughly enjoy everyday activities with the residents including 1-2-1 room visits all the way to professional singers visiting us. A firm favourite of mine and the residents at West Abbey is using our mini-bus weekly and visiting local nature hot spots! I look forward to welcoming you to our home.

Cadbury Chocolate 200 Years
Cadbury's Chocolate is celebrating 200 years of deliciousness! To commemorate this milestone, they sent our Lucky residents some mouth-watering chocolate to share and enjoy. What's even better? Cadbury's joined us for a live-stream talk, where they reminisced about the company's history, shared long-forgotten adverts, and showcased the iconic wrappers of their Dairy Milk bars. The talk sparked much conversation and reminiscing, and of course, we all indulged in the delicious Dairy Milk bars that Cadbury's so kindly sent our way. Here's to another 200 years of chocolatey goodness!
10 Years Service
Here at West Abbey we would like to congratulate our wonderful Managing Director, Natasha Lazovic, on her 10-year anniversary with Barchester Healthcare. Natasha had a huge surprise recently when Barchester’s CEO, Dr Pete Calveley, presented her with her 10 years’ service award and a beautiful bouquet of flowers.
Natasha joined Barchester in May 2014 as Regional Director leading 10 homes, which then doubled to 20 as Senior Regional Director.
Professional Breakfast
Here at West Abbey Care Home in Yeovil we have been busy hosting a very successful professional breakfast! On Thursday we met over 20 different local business owners and professionals to come together network, share experiences and enjoy a freshly cooked breakfast. We are so grateful for such a fantastic turn out and will be hosting another professional breakfast shortly.
Gentle Exercise
Here at West Abbey we have welcomed our regular fitness instructor to our lounge today to complete some stretches and light exercise. It is great for our residents to keep fit and they love the motivational music also!
International Nurses Day
Here at West Abbey Care Home we have been busy celebrating International Nurses Day. This was a fantastic opportunity to say thank you to our hard working and dedicated team that support our residents every single day. Our General Manager, Jess gave the team chocolates and flowers alongside a freshly prepared cake for each community to enjoy with their residents. Jess followed the treats with a short speech thanking the team for their commitment.
Baking Class
Whilst our Managing Director, Natasha Lazovic, is preparing for a Charity Cook off in aid of the Barchester Foundation which takes place on the 29th of May. Our popular baking club got baking making a savoury treat to enjoy with a pre-lunch treat the cheese twists went down very well.
