Activities at West Abbey Care Home
Our Activities Coordinators are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in. There are regular outings in the minibus to nearby places of interest, as well as visits from the Donkey sanctuary, musicians and entertainers. We also host evenings such as our Cheese & Wine evenings and BBQ's in the summer, that we encourage relatives to come to. Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained. We encourage our residents to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can to ensure that life at West Abbey is fun and active for all.

Nikki Griffee
Hi, I'm Nikki and I originally came to work at West Abbey in 2018 and have worked in various roles supporting our residents.
What I enjoy about my job is that no two days are the same and most of all, I thoroughly enjoy everyday activities with the residents including 1-2-1 room visits all the way to professional singers visiting us. A firm favourite of mine and the residents at West Abbey is using our mini-bus weekly and visiting local nature hot spots! I look forward to welcoming you to our home.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at West Abbey Care Home

National Carers Week
Here at West Abbey we have been celebrating our team here for Nationals Carers Week. This was a fantastic opportunity to show our appreciation for our dedicated and hard working team. The team were rewarded with a selection of chocolate and flowers from our General Manager. Thank you for all you do!

Strength Class
Here at West Abbey we have been enjoying our regular exercise class. Craig and the team from Communifit visit us every other week to help our residents with light exercises to promote a healthy lifestyle and reduce fall risk.

Social Sherrys
Here at West Abbey our residents have recently been enjoying a Social Sherry! The residents come together to enjoy a small glass of sherry whilst discussing the local and national news and sharing their views!

Pet Therapy
Pet therapy has become an integral part of care, bringing joy and comfort to those in need. Recently, residents had the pleasure of meeting the adorable Alpacas from Alpaca Adventure. Their fuzzy hair and cute little faces brought smiles to everyone's face. Harry, our PAT Dog, also knows just how to brighten everyone's day with his paw placement and love for ear scratches. It's heart warming to see the positive impact these furry friends have on the lives of those in care.

Bee Day
We celebrated International Bee Day by indulging in some of the delicious honey produced by these important pollinators. We enjoyed it on top of a warm, freshly baked baguette from our local bakery. Afterward, we took a stroll through the garden to observe the bee-friendly plants we have growing and appreciate the vital role bees play in our ecosystem. We also enjoyed a scrumptious honey cake made by our baking club. Let's continue to support and celebrate these precious creatures and their contributions to our planet.

25 Year Service Award
Our Deputy Manager here at West Abbey Care Home in Yeovil has received a prestigious 25 Year Service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for 25 years. Helen, now Deputy Manager started at Barchester 25 years ago and has worked with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met and quality care has been provided over the years. Here at West Abbey we would like to thank Helen for her dedicated hard work, years of loyal service and determination. We look forward to many more years working together.
