Activities at Westgate House Care Home

Our role in the home is fundamental to ensuring that our residents enjoy a fulfilling quality of life. We strive to provide a stimulating, creative & varied range of activities & events in the home, which everyone can enjoy whether they prefer social group engagement or one to one interaction. Residents choice is what we aim to provide to the best of our abilities. We enjoy being creative, sharing projects and discussing with our residents the kind of activities they would like to enjoy. Both indoor and outdoor activities are offered to cater for all tastes as well as regular outings to local places of interest.

Trek26 London run by the Alzheimer's Society

Congratulations to Hugo Ruela, Regional Support Manager at Westgate House, who completed the 13 mile walk for the Trek26 London Alzheimer’s Society this month. Please help Hugo raise a minimum of £200 for the Alzheimer's Society.

In the UK it is estimated 850,000 people have Dementia and by 2040 it can increase to 1.5 million. Together we can unite against Dementia. We are still accepting donation. Every penny helps.

Sensory Activity in the Garden

Sensory activities for adults with Dementia can help them engage in any five senses for instance smell or touch and this improve their moods by reducing stress. The residents favourite sensory object were the beautiful red roses.

We always have a fun time doing sensory activities on a regular basis!

Pudding Club

This month’s pudding club was held yesterday. The activities team held a reminiscence morning with our residents about pudding recipes and baking memories from years gone by. Three recipes where chosen sweet potato pudding, coconut cake and tea loaf pudding. Our chef then expertly made the puddings. We held a taster session for all to join in and vote on their favourite pudding. The winner was the coconut cake!! A big thank you to everyone who took part.
