Activities at Westgate House Care Home

Our role in the home is fundamental to ensuring that our residents enjoy a fulfilling quality of life. We strive to provide a stimulating, creative & varied range of activities & events in the home, which everyone can enjoy whether they prefer social group engagement or one to one interaction. Residents choice is what we aim to provide to the best of our abilities. We enjoy being creative, sharing projects and discussing with our residents the kind of activities they would like to enjoy. Both indoor and outdoor activities are offered to cater for all tastes as well as regular outings to local places of interest.

A lovely visit from Citizen UK

We had a lovely visit from Citizen UK and some children from St. Anthony’s primary school. They sang Christmas carols outside our home and shared some mulled wine and mince pies. The residents watched from the windows as it was very cold but they enjoyed the performance. Some staff went out to join in the fun and enjoy the treats.

Jack and the Beanstalk - Christmas Pantomime

As part of our Christmas activities programme, on Friday 9th December we had the Carousel theatre company come along and perform Jack and the Beanstalk pantomime for our residents. It was a lot of fun and the residents really enjoyed it. It really got us all in the Christmas spirit.

We are happy to announce that a team from the English National Ballet are offering Westgate House care home a six-week workshop programme for residents living with Dementia. It will be held every Wednesday, and it is so much fun! The residents have really enjoyed themselves, had great fun and a good exercise session.

Walking Club

Here at Westgate House, we run a weekly walking club. This week the residents walked to Westfield’s shopping centre and did some Christmas shopping. They loved seeing the Christmas trees and all the decorations and most all eating some yummy donuts!

Westgate House welcomes a new resident!

One of our residents Wilma, who has been living at Westgate House for five months now, thought it would be rather nice to have a cat to keep her company. We were happy to oblige, and also thought it would be a great idea.

Meet Gizmo! Gizmo the kitten is five months old and has been with us for one month now. Wilma has trained him, and he ventures around the home and the other residents love him also. Gizmo has been a great addition to the home.

Wear it pink day!

As part of wear it pink day our residents had a lovely tea party in our beautiful café. They did some arts & crafts to decorate the home and had their nails painted pink. Staff wore pink and donated £1 to breast cancer. We managed to raise £46.50!! We thank everybody who took part.
