Activities at Westgate House Care Home

Our role in the home is fundamental to ensuring that our residents enjoy a fulfilling quality of life. We strive to provide a stimulating, creative & varied range of activities & events in the home, which everyone can enjoy whether they prefer social group engagement or one to one interaction. Residents choice is what we aim to provide to the best of our abilities. We enjoy being creative, sharing projects and discussing with our residents the kind of activities they would like to enjoy. Both indoor and outdoor activities are offered to cater for all tastes as well as regular outings to local places of interest.

Condolence Book

London borough of Newham delivered us a condolence book for the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II. The book is for our residents, staff and families to pay their respects to the Queen and leave their own personal message. The book will be present throughout the official ten day mourning period ending the 19 September 2022 and then will be collected and preserved as a permanent memento.

The Mayor visits

The Mayor of Newham, Rokhsana Fiaz, visited our home on Friday 16 September. The reason for the visit was due to us receiving a book of Condolence for HM Queen Elizabeth II, from the London borough of Newham, so our residents, staff and families could leave their own personal message. The mayor came along to meet some of our residents and staff to have a chat about the Queens passing and to thank everyone for their written tributes. It was a nice surprise and the residents enjoyed having a nice chat and a cup of tea.

Fundraising event

On Friday 19th August our activity team and a couple of the residents set up a stall outside our care home selling picture frames, that we had accumulated over the years. It was a lovely day for it and created a lot of attention from passers-by. They managed to raise £148!! Which goes towards the residents activity fund. Well done to everyone involved.

Godwin junior school writes to us!

Godwin junior school made some beautiful cards for our residents to read. It was a nice surprise and put plenty of smiles on faces! So our residents made some thank you cards to send back in arts and crafts today. Thank you to Godwin junior school for thinking of us.

Walking Bentley

One of our residents dream was to walk a puppy so our activity coordinator brought her lovely puppy Bentley in so that he could oblige. She was so happy it really made her day!

Southend

Some of our residents went on a trip Friday 22 July to Southend. They had a nice ride in the min bus. They spent some time on the beach, had fish and chips and had a walk around the amusement park. Everyone had a nice day!
