Activities at White Lodge Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators here at White Lodge enjoy the fulfillment of helping residents feel important and a part of something. Meaningful moments are created through laughter and comfort. A varied activities programme is offered for the betterment of residents' bodies and minds, including music for health, 'Oomph' sessions and chair Zumba, in addition to coffee and cake groups that all inevitably lead to giggles and old fashioned singalongs. Also, we organise parties, trips out, walks in the country, bus outings and wonderful entertainers to visit our home. A sneaky tipple is always welcomed with cheese and crackers and, at the end of the day, it is important to go home knowing our activities have made a difference.

Life at White Lodge Care Home

Friends for 40 years

Jennifer and Sheila trained as primary school teachers at different colleges but worked together at Lyneham School for 23 years. They remained friends after their retirements and have now known each other for over 40 years. The often reminisce about the years they spent teaching 4-7 year-olds, recalling Christmas pantomimes and outings to Westonbirt Arboretum. We are delighted that they are both resident at White Lodge and have been able to continue their long friendship here.

Walking group

We are fortunate to be in a beautiful rural area, and it means we can go on local walks to enjoy the fresh air. Three of our lady residents are pictured setting off on their walk, and Peter is pictured at the farm where he sometimes chats to the farmer.

Pub quiz afternoon

We can't wait to go to the pub again, so in the meantime we held our own pub quiz afternoon with beer for the gents, and brandy and lemonade as requested by the ladies. Doreen, Peter and David all had a great time.

Pamper Day for the ladies

The ladies at White Lodge had a lovely day of pampering thanks to the talented members of the Activities Team. There were french pleats, tidy bobs and gorgeous curls, as well as beautiful hands and nails.

Peter's passion for music

At White Lodge we encourage residents to continue the hobbies and interests they had before moving to our home. In his younger days Peter enjoyed playing his guitar and we are delighted that he has found a renewed enthusiasm for music. Today he decided to restring his guitar and have a little practice. We can't wait for a longer performance from Peter.

A cat visits Memory Lane

Today we took our interactive cat to visit residents in the White Lodge Memory Lane community. The interactive cat was loved and cuddled, and purred in response, while bringing relaxation and comfort to residents with dementia.
