Activities at Wimborne Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Zoe Freeman
I have been working in care since 2019 and love the industry. I came from working on cruise ships and running events and activities there which has set me up to be a successful activities coordinator in care. You will never see me without a smile on my face and always bring my fun and bubbly personality to my job. My favourite part of my job is making people cheerful and help make their wishes come true to show people that age is just a number and we can have fun no matter what!

Life at Wimborne Care Home
Remembrance Day Celebrations
This is a very important day for our residents here at Wimborne. One of our residents Ivy has vivid memories of this time and wanted to share her stories with everyone. Once Ivy started sharing her stories it sparked so many memories for our other residents here and we spent the morning reminiscing their wartime days. A group of us headed out to our local memorial site to lay down some poppies and pay our respect to those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom. The afternoon turned into all of us enjoying and singing to the best war time tunes and giving our best Vera Lynn impressions. We finished the day with a classic cream tea with homemade scones with cream and jam and a selection of yummy treats.
Bonfire Night
We asked our residents how they remembered spending bonfire night and they said the most important part is sparklers and hot chocolate. We took part in many activities leading up to the big day from creating our very own guy Fawks for our bonfire to trying our hand at creating firework art pieces for our bedrooms. During one of our resident meetings one of our residents Barry requested burgers and chips so we decided to incorporate this into our bonfire celebrations. Starting the night with a guy Fawks quiz we then enjoyed tasty beef burgers with caramelized onions and chips. We then put on our warmest coats, gloves and hats and headed out to our court yard for hot chocolate with all the toppings and lit up our sparklers.
Ice cream sundae
Who doesn’t love an ice cream? We had an afternoon in the sunshine and in our lounge with homemade ice cream sundaes. Everyone designed their own with different sauces, toppings and of course whipped cream to top it off.
Seaside Trip
As per a residents request we headed out to the pub on the seaside. The ship in was a favourite for many years and it hasn’t lost its touch on a beautiful sunny day we loved a refreshing drink looking at the ocean.
Children of Muddy Boots visit
We had a great day with a visit from the children of Muddy boots. They shared their home-made sensory play dough and sang along to nursery rhymes with our residents. The home was full of life with these young children running around and we all made new friends.
Reptile Visit
The residents enjoyed a visit from some scaly friends and learning all about these amazing snakes and all their weird and wonderful behaviours. Many residents were brave enough to hold these amazing creatures.
