Activities at Wimborne Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Senior Activity Coordinator

I have been working in care since 2019 and love the industry. I came from working on cruise ships and running events and activities there which has set me up to be a successful activities coordinator in care. You will never see me without a smile on my face and always bring my fun and bubbly personality to my job. My favourite part of my job is making people cheerful  and help make their wishes come true to show people that age is just a number and we can have fun no matter what!

Celebrating life at Wimborne Care Home

New! Puzzle Club.

New! Puzzle Club.

Welcoming the New Year with Something New!
We’ve started the New Year at Wimborne Care Home just the way our residents asked with the launch of our brand-new Puzzle Club
Requested by our residents, this new club has already brought everyone together to enjoy problem-solving, laughter, teamwork and a friendly challenge. It’s been a wonderful way to keep minds active, encourage conversation and share a sense of achievement as we step into the year ahead.
Here’s to listening to our residents, trying new things, and making 2026 a year full of engagement, fun and connection
Christmas Day at Wimborne

Christmas Day at Wimborne

Christmas Day at Wimborne Care Home
What a truly magical Christmas Day we shared at Wimborne Care Home
Our residents were delighted to receive presents from Father Christmas and his wonderful elf , bringing smiles, laughter and a touch of festive magic to everyone.
The day was made even more special as residents, families and staff came together in the lounge to celebrate as one big family. With glasses of Prosecco raised, plenty of festive cheer and lots of heartfelt moments, it was a Christmas filled with warmth, togetherness and joy.
Having Fun and enjoying Life

Having Fun and enjoying Life

Having fun and enjoying life

Wimborne is a home with lots going on.
December is another brilliant month in Wimborne life - hint; there is no bad month here! - but the music, the high quality entertainment, whether it is joining in or simply sitting and listening is a part of what brings our residents joy.

It can be a singer, a pianist, bell ringers or a children's choir, the joy is 'in the moment' and at Wimborne we have many precious moments.

To share with us what would make a 'precious moment' for your loved one, please call us. We love to learn about our residents before they join us and Abba lovers, Elvis afficionado's, Beatle maniacs or Mozart appreciators are all welcomed
Wimborne , a place from which to explore Hayling

Wimborne , a place from which to explore Hayling

We are so lucky, we have the support of ‘Cycle without Age’ and several times a month our residents get the chance to take a trip out on a double tricke, being shown the delights of our Island. Imagine someone else doing the pedalling, and you are snug with good company and the wind in your hair, seeing the beach, maybe stopping for some sights, having a natter and a gentle toot and a wave.

It’s a joy. Hayling is a Community that recognises and welcomes the Cycle without Age Bike, plus it is flat and picturesque, so we like to make the most of these glorious days and ‘get out there’ whilst we can.

Autumn has arrived at Wimborne

Autumn has arrived at Wimborne

We have embraced the autumn colours with a wonderful Wimborne array of blooms, bunting and some light blankets for those who’s ‘knees need it!’. We have crafted, having lots of fun together, Hayden our Head chef has seasonal soups, roasts and curries along with his adored daily bakes.

Gary our Head of Maintenance is clearing acorns and crunchy leaves, we have the last of the tomatoes from our garden and a few blackberries nestled in the bushes. Our family of foxes have grown but thankfully not flown!

Walking club adventures in the sunshine

Walking club adventures in the sunshine

Walks Club Adventures in the sunshine.
This week our Walks Club enjoyed a lovely outing to the new café Vaughan's on Mengham High Street, making the most of some fresh air, good company and a well-earned cuppa!
It was wonderful to support a local business while enjoying a relaxed stroll, plenty of smiles and great conversation along the way. Our residents loved soaking up the atmosphere and trying out a new spot in the community.
We’re already looking forward to our next Walks Club adventure!

Festive baking club

Festive baking club

Festive Baking Club Fun at Wimborne Care Home!
Today our residents rolled up their sleeves and sprinkled a little Christmas magic as our wonderful Second Chef hosted a gingerbread-making workshop! From mixing spices to decorating their own delicious creations, the session was filled with laughter, sweet aromas and plenty of festive cheer.
Our Festive Baking Club is in full swing, and it’s been a joy seeing everyone get creative and enjoy the simple pleasure of baking together.
Well done to our talented chef for guiding the session and to our residents for making some truly beautiful (and tasty!) gingerbread masterpieces!
Our community cares

Our community cares

Wimborne has been wrapped up. Our community really holds Wimborne in its heart. One dear lady – Charlie Richie – decided to make shawls, hand crocheted for each of our ladies. At 3 days work each she has dedicated herself to bringing a loving hug to each of them and the shawls have brought colour, warmth and hugs to all. That’s a lot of love given!

Mind you, we have nearly as many gents, so Charlie has now announced she is on with some blankets! Watch this space. We love our community and are so very appreciative. Thank you, Charlie.

Celebrating a love to remember

Celebrating a love to remember

Maurice and Elizabeth have been married for 70 years.

A wonderful happy couple, Wimborne were delighted to host a Very Special Celebration for friends and family.

Platinum balloons and bunting bedecked the walls, the was a card from the King and Queen and a Cake showing the happy couple on their wedding day. They enjoyed a dance to their original wedding dance song and the singer on the day gave everyone something to join in with. The baking was beautiful and the smiles never ceased.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Ringing in the New Year at Wimborne Care Home
We welcomed the New Year in true Wimborne style with a wonderful New Year’s Eve celebration . Our residents enjoyed a lively party complete with a glass of Prosecco, plenty of smiles, and lots of dancing.
A huge thank you to the fantastic visiting jive group who had everyone tapping their feet and joining in on the dance floor and the staff who made the night so special! We ended the evening hand in hand, singing Auld Lang Syne together a truly special moment to reflect on the year gone by and welcome the year ahead.
Here’s to new memories, happiness, and many more celebrations to come in the year ahead!
Christmas Jumper Day

Christmas Jumper Day

Christmas Jumper Day Fun at Wimborne Care Home
We’ve had a fantastically festive day at Wimborne Care Home celebrating Christmas Jumper Day!
Staff donned their most colourful, sparkly and creative jumpers and took to the catwalk, strutting their stuff for our residents who enjoyed every moment with plenty of smiles, laughter and applause.
The highlight of the day was our resident ambassador, who had the very important job of judging the competition and choosing the winning jumper a role taken very seriously! Congratulations to Kate Godwin, well deserved!
A wonderful day filled with festive cheer, fun and togetherness, bringing everyone into the Christmas spirit
A magical nativity morning

A magical nativity morning

A Magical Nativity Morning at Mill Rythe Infant School
We had the most wonderful morning visiting Mill Rythe Infant School to watch the children perform their nativity just for us.
Our residents were absolutely delighted by the singing, costumes and festive cheer, bringing back many happy Christmas memories. The joy and smiles shared between the children and our residents truly warmed our hearts
A huge thank you to Mill Rythe Infant School for welcoming us so warmly and putting on such a special performance.
Fire safety talk

Fire safety talk

Wimborne welcomed Ian and Aimee from the Community Engagement Team of Hants & IOW Fire Service. They gave a wonderfully informative and highly entertaining talk to some of our residents and community visitors about general home fire safety, with so many tips; all of interest and clearly high value.

The talk was a great success; Ian loved our homemade cake and certainly rated this visit as one of his preferred locations, whilst some of our residents evidently enjoyed meeting a 6ft 4 gentleman in uniform! Needless to say we think we will be doing this again, you can’t be too safe!

For the love of sunflowers

Hayling has a unique seasonal favourite – Sam’s Sunflowers. Sam a local farmer, some 6 years ago, planted a small patch of sunflowers for his wedding, sadly the weather wasn’t kind and timing was off so he sadly had to give them away, raising funds for charity in doing so.

This started a business that has now become ‘ Sam’s Sunflowers’ and fields & fields of Sunflowers, love is still very much in the air. A couple of our residents, soon to celebrate their 70th Wedding Anniversary enjoyed being part of a very super trip there. We at Wimborne love supporting local businesses and are delighted that Sam’s has been voted UK Sunflower Field of the Year 2025!
