Activities at Wimborne Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Zoe Freeman
I have been working in care since 2019 and love the industry. I came from working on cruise ships and running events and activities there which has set me up to be a successful activities coordinator in care. You will never see me without a smile on my face and always bring my fun and bubbly personality to my job. My favourite part of my job is making people cheerful and help make their wishes come true to show people that age is just a number and we can have fun no matter what!
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Wimborne Care Home

Mexican Day Celebrations
Andele, Andele its Mexican fiesta time!!! We celebrated this day with all this Mexican. We enjoyed a Mexican themed cuisine designed and created by our head chef Hayden before a fiesta fit for Mexico. We hand shook our classic margaritas, danced and sang our way through the afternoon enjoying mariachi music and a little treat of chips, salsa and guacamole. For many of our residents trying this cuisine was a first and they already can’t wait for another day of Mexican celebrations and food.

VE Day Afternoon Tea
To many of our residents VE day is such a strong memory. This was a day to go down in history and to be celebrated each and every year. Many residents enjoy telling their stories of street parties with union jacks everywhere. We enjoyed a classic English afternoon tea with fingers sandwiches and scones while we reminisced with VE day pictures and stories of heroes throughout that time. We all later enjoyed singing War time tune classics such a songs by Vera Lynn and waved out flags in celebration.

Celebrating 200 years of Cadbury
Who doesn’t love chocolate? When you think of chocolate the first name that comes into your mind it Cadburys. Here at Wimborne we joined an exciting live virtual event with chocolate giant Cadbury to hear about their incredible 200 year history, had a Cadbury themed quiz and took a trip down memory lane to reminiscence on some of the nation’s most loved chocolate during Dementia Action Week. We enjoyed hot chocolate, chocolate milkshakes and lots of variety of Cadbury chocolate treats. It was a dream day for all us chocoholics.

Donkey Sanctuary
Who doesn’t love a donkey? We are so lucky to have a sanctuary on the island who homes over 30 retired or unwanted donkeys from all over and welcomes in everyone to come along to pet these wonderful creatures. We got together our furry loving residents to go along and get some animal therapy and enjoy a nice cup of tea and cake to finish of this wonderful day out. Meeting animals makes such a difference to our residents, it can be so calming to stroke these donkeys and everyone looks forward to the sanctuary opening up over the summer.

Memory Choir
Here at Wimborne we all love music and we like to sing each and every day! We wanted to create choir for everyone on the island and all our local communities to come and be a part of something we are so passionate about. In partnering up with the amazing Hampshire Memory Choir we had our opening session with the presence of our deputy Mayor of Havant who wanted to show his support in this wonderful experience for our whole community. We invited in everyone, those living with dementia or people who are supporting those with dementia to come along and see the difference music can make. Everyone sang songs with new friends and then enjoyed freshly made homemade cakes by our head chef. We already can’t wait for the next session.

Biscuit Baking at its Best
Here at Wimborne, we celebrated National Biscuit day with a biscuit making masterclass. Our head chef Hayden took us through his tricks of the trade to make the perfect shortbread.
After trying and testing what we made, we then took part in a biscuit naming quiz, all washed down with a lovely cup of tea of course!
