Activities at Wimborne Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Zoe Freeman

Lead Activities Coordinator

I have been working in care since 2019 and love the industry. I came from working on cruise ships and running events and activities there which has set me up to be a successful activities coordinator in care. You will never see me without a smile on my face and always bring my fun and bubbly personality to my job. My favourite part of my job is making people cheerful  and help make their wishes come true to show people that age is just a number and we can have fun no matter what!

Life at Wimborne Care Home

Sharing the Love

With a Valentine's like no other, Wimborne wanted to join in the community spirit of Hearts for Hayling. Our residents decorated hearts to show their love and appreciation to friends, family and key workers during the pandemic. Once decorated, we proudly displayed the hearts for everyone to see the love we wished to share.

Empathy Dolls

Here at Wimborne, we have welcomed two empathy dolls for our residents. These have been proven to help release anxiety within individuals with dementia or Alzheimer’s. Our residents thoroughly enjoy interacting with our empathy dolls, which we have called Anna and Bill.

Bundle of Joy

Meet the new member here at Wimborne: Adele. In such a short space of time, Adele has already brought so much joy to both the residents and staff.

With weekly visits, her bubbly, young spirit has been providing so much happiness and memories for each resident she sees.

Soon to complete her PAT training, she will become the Wimborne dog, continuing to share her happiness and love with everyone at the home.

Smells of Christmas

Wimborne was full of delicious smells of cinnamon and gingerbread as our chef cooked up some Christmas treats for residents to enjoy at tea time. Residents took part in decorating gingerbread houses with a selection of sweets, which brought great fun to the dining room.

Elf Day

All staff dressed up especially for Elf Day whilst also taking part in a cake decorating competition. The residents voted for the best dressed elf and the best designed cake from the competition. It was a day full of laughter and joy, in the build up to Christmas. Together we raised £196 for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Santa Came to Visit

On Christmas morning, Santa came to pay a special visit to the residents here at Wimborne. Spreading festive joy and cheer, our Head of Maintenance, dressed up especially for the occasion, to which the residents' thoroughly enjoyed. He brought gifts for every resident on a decorated lit up sleigh which he delivered individually.
