Activities at Wimborne Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Zoe Freeman

Senior Activity Coordinator

I have been working in care since 2019 and love the industry. I came from working on cruise ships and running events and activities there which has set me up to be a successful activities coordinator in care. You will never see me without a smile on my face and always bring my fun and bubbly personality to my job. My favourite part of my job is making people cheerful  and help make their wishes come true to show people that age is just a number and we can have fun no matter what!

Outdoor Games

Outdoor Games

Residents spent the morning having lots of laughter and fun as a game of giant skittles was taking place in the courtyard. Even some of the staff couldn’t resist and had to get involved with all the fun and joy. The morning really was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Able Classes

Able Classes

Rhonda from Able Classes comes and visits residents regularly to provide one hour classes, including a mix of general knowledge quizzes, reminiscence sessions, games and simple physical exercise routines. The aim is to stimulate both the brain and the body in a relaxing, enjoyable and entertaining atmosphere. Residents are always looking forward to Rhonda’s next visit.

Walks in the Communiy

Walks in the Communiy

Our most recent weekly walk was through the local nature reserve and the horse track. The weather was lovely and sunny and residents enjoyed watching the horses roaming in the fields whilst their owners were preparing the stables for the cold weather returning.

Summer Jazz Party

Every summer, we hold a themed party for all the residents, relatives and staff. This year, it was all about that jazz, with a black and white dress code in place, and with the reception and lounge transformed into a jazz bar. Everybody really was getting into the jazz spirit!

A live performance from local jazz singer, Karen Williams, was shortly followed by games, which were organised by staff members. A delicious spread of various sweet and savory snacks were prepared by our very talented chefs as well. Staff were also on hand to serve various cocktails, including the classic martini. The afternoon really was enjoyed by all!

On the Rails

Lynn, Kerry and members of the committee group, recently organised a trip to the Hayling Railway. The train starts at Eastoke Corner and heads towards the local fair and back. After the train journey, residents stopped at the café on the seafront to indulge in some delicious cake and coffee whilst enjoying the sea air.

A Cause for Celebration

June and July was a very busy month, with lots of residents celebrating their birthdays, including Barry and his 69th, Joan and her 89th, Bill and his 94th and also Beryl, who recently celebrated her 90th. All residents spent the day opening presents and eating lots of cake with their families, friends and other residents.
