Activities at Wimborne Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Zoe Freeman

Senior Activity Coordinator

I have been working in care since 2019 and love the industry. I came from working on cruise ships and running events and activities there which has set me up to be a successful activities coordinator in care. You will never see me without a smile on my face and always bring my fun and bubbly personality to my job. My favourite part of my job is making people cheerful  and help make their wishes come true to show people that age is just a number and we can have fun no matter what!

Cheese, Wine & Smiles

We recently held a cheese & wine evening for all our wonderful and lovely residents. The evening was full of laughter as residents indulged in all the different varieties of cheeses and wines, which were served up with crackers, biscuits, grapes and also homemade cheese straws, which were freshly made during the morning's Kitchen Corner.

Open Day

Here at Wimborne, we had a fantastic day; wonderful staff were on hand to provide show rounds of our beautiful home and talk about the wonderful services we provide.

Joy came along and visited Wimborne with her beautiful selection of homemade cards that were available to purchase. Neighbours, relatives and the local community joined us for a light lunch, along with delicious refreshments, all prepared by our wonderful kitchen team.

After lunch, everybody enjoyed a game of ‘At the Races’ with medals handed out to the winners. This was followed by a game of  ‘guessing what's in the Queen's handbag’, all whilst enjoying the delicious homemade Queen's handbag cake with afternoon tea.

The day was thoroughly enjoyed by all residents, staff, relatives and visitors.

Music for Health

Music for Health

Once a month, Sue from Music for Health visits Wimborne for an afternoon of music, light instruments, dancing and also a musical quiz. Residents really look forward to this visit and the quiz always keeps them on their toes.

Easter & Good Friday

Easter & Good Friday

Residents, relatives and staff got into the Easter spirit and celebrated Good Friday in style with an afternoon tea party, Easter egg hunt, and a seasonal raffle, with all proceeds going towards the residents' fund. Staff and residents also took part in an Easter cake competition. Residents particularly enjoyed making and decorating the Easter chocolate crispies.

Kitchen Creations

Once a week, residents get together in the kitchen to discuss, cook or bake whichever sweet or savory snack they fancy. Most recently, residents decided they would like to make individual fruit cakes. They were a massive success and everyone thoroughly enjoyed them in the afternoon.
