Activities at Wimborne Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Zoe Freeman
I have been working in care since 2019 and love the industry. I came from working on cruise ships and running events and activities there which has set me up to be a successful activities coordinator in care. You will never see me without a smile on my face and always bring my fun and bubbly personality to my job. My favourite part of my job is making people cheerful and help make their wishes come true to show people that age is just a number and we can have fun no matter what!

Life at Wimborne Care Home
TIme for a Cuppa
Here at Wimborne, we supported Time for a Cuppa, a fundraising event for Dementia UK. We held an afternoon tea party open to all families, residents and the local community, with a selection of teas, coffee and delicious, homemade cakes. All proceeds will go straight to Dementia UK.
Birthday Fun
March was a very busy month with lots of residents celebrating their birthdays, including Marjorie, who turned 94. and both Joan & Betty, who celebrated their 92nd. All residents who had a birthday in March spent the day opening presents and eating lots of cake with their families, friends and other residents.
St Patrick's
Relatives and residents all had an amazing time celebrating St Patricks Day. Our very talented Head Chef, Alex, prepared a delicious Irish lunch and we followed this up by watching the very talented local dance school perform a traditional Irish dance, which residents thoroughly enjoyed.
Nutrition & Hydration Week
Nutrition & Hydration Week aims to highlight, promote and celebrate improvements in the provisions of food and drink. It offers an opportunity for the fantastic chefs that Barchester has to really show off their skills and to enhance the mealtime experience that we provide.
Here at Wimborne, we celebrated the occasion by providing residents with well-balanced, nutritious meals and snacks throughout the week. Residents even got involved and helped to prepare some of the delicious snacks for an afternoon of taste testing, which included an exotic fruit salad.
Pancake Day
Shrove Tuesday brought joy and laughter to the home as residents and staff took part in a pancake tossing competition after their morning coffee. Residents also thoroughly enjoyed pancakes with a selection of various toppings for a sweet afternoon treat.
Chinese New Year
Residents and staff had a fantastic time celebrating Chinese New Year by enjoying a delicious traditional Chinese supper, all freshly prepared by Head Chef, Alex. Residents particularly enjoyed the sweet and sour chicken served with the egg fried rice, followed by a fortune cookie each.
