Activities at Wimborne Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

I have been working in care since 2019 and love the industry. I came from working on cruise ships and running events and activities there which has set me up to be a successful activities coordinator in care. You will never see me without a smile on my face and always bring my fun and bubbly personality to my job. My favourite part of my job is making people cheerful and help make their wishes come true to show people that age is just a number and we can have fun no matter what!

Life at Wimborne Care Home
Macmillan Coffee Morning
Every year, staff, residents and and loved ones get together for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. This year, there was plenty of delicious home-baked cakes, which were sold to raise money. During the coffee morning, Chriss' Mobile Toiletry Shop was set up in the dining room, so everybody could enjoy a little retail therapy to burn off all the extra calories from all the yummy cakes.
Memory Walk
Staff members from Wimborne took part in a Memory Walk organised by the Dementia Friendly Hayling Island Group. The walk took them along the Hayling seafront in the glorious sunshine on Saturday 23rd September.
There were just under eighty of us at the event and we managed to raise nearly £450 for the Alzheimer's Society. With every pound raised, new research is being funded for and providing precious support to more people, wherever they are and whatever they are going through.
The day was a huge success, filled with smiles, joy and laughter. Everybody is looking forward to the next Memory Walk so we can unite against dementia once again!
Weekly Walk
Our most recent weekly walk was to the local nature reserve and the horse track. The weather was lovely and sunny and residents enjoyed watching the horses roaming in the fields whilst their owners were preparing the stables for the cold weather returning.
Barchester in Bloom
We're proud to announce that Wimborne has been named as a divisional winner in the 'Innovative Garden' category for the 2017 Barchester in Bloom competition. Well done to everyone who made this possible!
Chichester Canal Boat Trip
Lynn, Kerry and members of the committee group, organised a boat ride on the Chichester Canal. We cruised along the beautiful sights of Chichester, including the Chichester Cathedral, which we saw in the distance. Once the boat came to a stop, everybody had a relaxing lunch whilst enjoying the last of the sunshine and warm weather.
Jukebox Jive
Tickled Pink Productions came to Wimborne and presented the Jukebox Jive, a light-hearted, romantic comedy story linking the hits together with beautiful costumes and high-energy dance routines.
The colourful show was packed with favourite numbers from the '50s and the '60s, including song from Elvis, The Beatles, Beach Boys and many more.
The show was thoroughly enjoyed by all!
