Activities at Wimborne Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Zoe Freeman
I have been working in care since 2019 and love the industry. I came from working on cruise ships and running events and activities there which has set me up to be a successful activities coordinator in care. You will never see me without a smile on my face and always bring my fun and bubbly personality to my job. My favourite part of my job is making people cheerful and help make their wishes come true to show people that age is just a number and we can have fun no matter what!

Life at Wimborne Care Home
Valentine's Day
All residents were invited to The Red Lions Valentine's Afternoon Tea Party, along with the other local dementia care homes on the island. There was live entertainment provided by a local singer, games and freshly homemade cakes and sandwiches. Residents, Margaret and Dorothy, both commented on how lovely the afternoon was and enjoyed the singing and dancing the most.
Hayling Rocks
Hayling Rocks is a group created by people living on the island. The idea is to collect a stone or a rock and paint a special picture or saying on to it, along with 'Join Hayling Rocks, post a pic and re-hide.' They are then left somewhere different on the island for someone else to find.
The very talented and creative residents at Wimborne are getting involved by decorating and hiding their very own rocks and hoping somebody finds one. Once the weather is a bit warmer, residents are hoping to find the creative rocks whilst on their weekly walk.
Vase & Flower Creations
Lynn & Kerry collected bunches of various flowers from the local florists so that residents were able to create their own bouquets. In our most recent flower arranging session, residents also decorated some old jars to be used as vases. The finished vases and flowers were then placed on the dining room tables to be admired by all residents, relatives, staff and visitors.
Birthday Celebrations
January has been a busy month, with lots of residents celebrating their birthdays, including Catherine, who recently enjoyed her 96th here at Wimborne. Catherine isn’t a huge fan of cake, so she requested to have a traditional banana split instead. Catherine spent the afternoon with her family and staff opening her presents and enjoying her delicious banana split.
Chocolate Cake Day
Everybody at Wimborne has been looking forward to joining in with the celebrations on National Chocolate Cake Day. In the afternoon, residents enjoyed a traditional afternoon tea with a variety of different chocolate cakes and other chocolate treats, whilst discussing their favorite chocolate sweets from their childhood.
107th Birthday Celebrations
Celebrations have been in full swing at Wimborne as Muriel commemorated her 107th birthday in style. She was joined by staff, relatives & friends for cake and champagne as she received her 7th telegram from the Queen in recognition of her landmark birthday.
