Activities at Wimborne Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Zoe Freeman

Lead Activities Coordinator

I have been working in care since 2019 and love the industry. I came from working on cruise ships and running events and activities there which has set me up to be a successful activities coordinator in care. You will never see me without a smile on my face and always bring my fun and bubbly personality to my job. My favourite part of my job is making people cheerful  and help make their wishes come true to show people that age is just a number and we can have fun no matter what!

Life at Wimborne Care Home

Chocolate Cake Day

Chocolate Cake Day

Everybody at Wimborne has been looking forward to joining in with the celebrations on National Chocolate Cake Day. In the afternoon, residents enjoyed a traditional afternoon tea with a variety of different chocolate cakes and other chocolate treats, whilst discussing their favorite chocolate sweets from their childhood.

107th Birthday Celebrations

Celebrations have been in full swing at Wimborne as Muriel commemorated her 107th birthday in style. She was joined by staff, relatives & friends for cake and champagne as she received her 7th telegram from the Queen in recognition of her landmark birthday.

Christmas and the Naughty Elf

On the morning of the 1st December, there were Christmas carols & songs playing throughout the home as staff and residents decorated it ready for Christmas. The home was full of joy and laughter, as residents reminisced about their favourite Christmas memories. Watch out for the ’Naughty Elf’  – he's been getting into all kinds of mischief and trouble.

Morning Newspapers

Morning Newspapers

Every morning after breakfast and over a relaxing cup of coffee, residents get together with their daily newspapers to discuss the week’s news and current headlines.

,

Kitchen Corner

Once a week, residents get together in the living kitchen to discuss, cook or bake whichever sweet or savory snack they fancy. Most recently, they decided to make the delicious classic Eaton Mess and also a tear and share chocolate Christmas tree oozing with warm Nutella. Both were thoroughly enjoyed by the residents with their afternoon tea.

The Pianist

The Pianist

Resident, Rosemary, regularly plays the piano in the lounge for other residents, families and staff members to enjoy. Everybody is always amazed at how wonderfully she can play and enjoy the classical tunes, which you can hear throughout the home.
