Activities at Wood Grange Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Ruby-Mae Walker
Hello, my name is Ruby-Mae and I am the activities Co-Ordinator here at Wood Grange.
My background is working in dance education and production as well as experience in the mental health care sector. I am extremely passionate about my role here in promoting life enrichment within the home and I feel privileged to work alongside such amazing people, and to be a part of our residents lives, spending quality time with them on a regular basis. I work alongside Louise to plan and organise daily activities to suit our resident’s needs, Louise and I are very enthusiastic about our roles and the resident’s well-being is always at the forefront of our minds.
I love to dance, keep fit by going to the gym and spending time with family.

Life at Wood Grange Care Home
National Tomato Day
On Tuesday 24th May, Wood Grange celebrated National Tomato Day. On display were interesting facts and poems about tomatoes. Also, tomato recipes for anyone to help themselves to were available, in addition to free tomato juice. There was a wide variety of tomatoes available to buy, along with tomato plants (grown by one of our nurses). The whole day was tomato-themed, and even included a menu for the residents, which was tomato-based (we must say that the desserts caused a bit of a problem). Families, friends, residents and staff enjoyed our day, although I don't think tomatoes will be on the menu for the next month or so.
Raising Money for the Air Ambulance
By holding themed event meals throughout the year for families and residents, we raised £455 for the Air Ambulance. The photos show Wood Grange presenting the cheque to one of the Air Ambulance representatives.
Wood Grange Celebrates International Nurses' Day
We wanted to say a very big thank you to all our wonderful nurses who work here. They do incredible work everyday here at Wood Grange, and the place wouldn't be what it is without them.
We Know Tai Chi
Resident, Sandy, enjoyed a tai chi session here at the Grange - she really enjoyed herself, and the exercise was really good for her.
Green Fingers at the Grange
Percy Thrower isn't a patch on our green-fingered residents, Tony and Mary, who tidied up our Memory Lane garden for us.
An Afternoon of Music
Wood Grange residents sat down to enjoy an afternoon of music. We even had a tambourine, so they could get involved with the magic of music-making if they wanted to.
