Activities at Wood Grange Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Ruby-Mae Walker
Hello, my name is Ruby-Mae and I am the activities Co-Ordinator here at Wood Grange.
My background is working in dance education and production as well as experience in the mental health care sector. I am extremely passionate about my role here in promoting life enrichment within the home and I feel privileged to work alongside such amazing people, and to be a part of our residents lives, spending quality time with them on a regular basis. I work alongside Louise to plan and organise daily activities to suit our resident’s needs, Louise and I are very enthusiastic about our roles and the resident’s well-being is always at the forefront of our minds.
I love to dance, keep fit by going to the gym and spending time with family.

Life at Wood Grange Care Home
Nick Glover Comes to Visit
Residents recently spent time dancing the afternoon away with local singer, Nick Glover.
Back to School Lunch
Once again, we held a themed charity lunch. This time, the theme was 'back to school', which was well-supported by residents, families and friends.
We host our themed meals to raise money for the Carer Sitters Association. As you can see, a fun time was had by all.
Summer Fete & Dog Show
Wood Grange managed to raise a whopping £1,028.44 at their Summer Fete & Dog Show. It was a great day and everyone had lots of fun!
The Three Amigos
Wednesday 6th July was a celebration day here at Wood Grange. General Manager, Diane Roach, celebrated 40 years of nursing and was presented with flowers and gifts. Sandra Baker, our Activities Coordinator, celebrated 15 years of working at Wood Grange and was also presented with flowers and gifts. To complete the trio, Maintenance Manager, Stephen Castel, was chosen as Employee of the Month and was presented with gift vouchers.
British Guide Dog Association
On Thursday 2nd June, we had a talk from the British Guide Dog Association. Everyone had a lovely time and thoroughly enjoyed learning about how this charity works. Through holding themed meals in which family members supported the home, we managed to raise over £200 for this charity - and they were absolutely thrilled! This story also made our local paper, which everyone at the home was extremely proud of.
National Tomato Day
On Tuesday 24th May, Wood Grange celebrated National Tomato Day. On display were interesting facts and poems about tomatoes. Also, tomato recipes for anyone to help themselves to were available, in addition to free tomato juice. There was a wide variety of tomatoes available to buy, along with tomato plants (grown by one of our nurses). The whole day was tomato-themed, and even included a menu for the residents, which was tomato-based (we must say that the desserts caused a bit of a problem). Families, friends, residents and staff enjoyed our day, although I don't think tomatoes will be on the menu for the next month or so.
