Activities at Wood Grange Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Ruby-Mae Walker

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Ruby-Mae and I am the activities Co-Ordinator here at Wood Grange.

My background is working in dance education and production as well as experience in the mental health care sector. I am extremely passionate about my role here in promoting life enrichment within the home and I feel privileged to work alongside such amazing people, and to be a part of our residents lives, spending quality time with them on a regular basis. I work alongside Louise to plan and organise daily activities to suit our resident’s needs, Louise and I are very enthusiastic about our roles and the resident’s well-being is always at the forefront of our minds.

I love to dance, keep fit by going to the gym and spending time with family.

A Bit of DIY

Resident, Ann, chose her own décor for her room, complete with butterflies, bringing the outdoors in, which she loves so much.

Employee of the Month - March

Employee of the Month - March

Congratulations to Head Chef, Stephen Allwood, who was named as our Employee of the Month for March. Stephen was nominated because he works extra hard, never complains and for making it to work during severe weather, despite living miles away.

March at Wood Grange

Snow isn't just for the young ones; as you can see, residents and staff had lots of fun when 'the Beast from the East' arrived.

Resident, Fred, an expert on gardening, really enjoyed choosing his own plants from the local garden centre and then planting them.

The recent monthly theme day was ‘sport’. Residents and visitors enjoyed a lovely meal, which raised money for our latest charity, the Multiple System Atrophy Trust. It was nominated by visitors and residents due to one of our regular visitor’s husband sadly passing away from this illness.

Life at Wood Grange

We've been keeping busy here at Wood Grange!

Residents have been designing and making their own bracelets, have enjoyed days out at Hammerton Zoo and have been playing Scrabble weekly. They've also been keeping busy with flower arranging sessions and enjoying visits from the local Busy Bees Nursery, who visit us twice a month to spend time with residents. It was love at first sight as well, when we received a visit from some Shetland ponies.
