Activities at Woodhorn Park Care Home
Activities make up the most important part of all our days at Woodhorn park, so we ensure a variety of social events are available that reflect the interests of all the people we support. In our Memory Lane community, we have group conversations and regularly reminiscence about past experiences, which is something that people living with dementia really enjoy. Many residents love gardening, baking, outings, pet care and gentle exercise, which we provide, along with many other wholesome activities, as it is essential that life at Woodhorn Park is fun and active.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Woodhorn Park Care Home
Avon Calling
At Woodhorn Park, residents and colleagues were delighted to receive bags of treats from local Avon representative, Kasie, following a community appeal to recognise the hardworking staff at the home.
The home feels so blessed to have such an amazing support network from our community, with the local church, interest groups and community all supporting us, and it is now that the support we have received has shined brighter than ever. The efforts and extra steps that people have gone to is extraordinary and we are forever grateful.
Everyone is now looking forward to a little pampering!
Messages of Kindness
To combat loneliness and isolation, colleagues of Woodhorn Park reached out to the community as part of their extended social network to seek pen-pals of all ages. We reached out to nurseries, schools and members of the community to remain connected during the current coronavirus crisis.
Residents of the home were delighted to read their first delivery ny the pupils from Bishop’s Primary School, Thomas Bewick Campus and kind words from Lacey, daughter of the home's district nurse, Steph.
Residents were delighted to receive colourful pictures and letters delivered to the home. Thank you for adding a little colour and sunshine to our resident’s day and for your heartfelt messages.
Easter Eggs for Residents
The Easter bunny arrived early for residents of Woodhorn Park when they were surprised by the generosity of Shared Services Connected Ltd based in nearby Benton, who kindly delivered Easter eggs for every resident over the weekend. Sarah Patterson, acting general manager and Anna Foster, activities coordinators were on hand to accept the beautiful hamper filled with a selection of eggs all shapes and sizes sure to satisfy any chocolate lover!

Residents Get Pampered
The ladies at Woodhorn Park recently enjoyed a beauty day at the home courtesy of the staff from the home swapping roles for the day to treat residents to hair and beauty treatments. Honouring the women residents at the home, colleagues supported with a range of beauty kits in the salon to pamper and beautify. The hospitality team at the home also served a spread of teas and cakes for all to enjoy to the delight of all!

The Mother of all Celebrations
Residents at Woodhorn Park, celebrated Mother’s Day with each resident receiving a little gift of bath bombs or sweet treats of chocolates for those chocolate lovers. Staff at Woodhorn came together to celebrate in style with music, sing-a-long and games throughout the day. The homes hospitality team prepared delicious home-made cakes to be served at their afternoon tea.
We all had such a special day. The ladies were really impressed by everything the staff did to spoil everyone rotten! Thank you to everyone for making the day so special.
Residents Go for Gold
Residents and staff at Woodhorn Park laced up their trainers and warmed-up for a fun-filled afternoon of games. Staff and residents showed their friendly competitive streak as they took to their marks in a selection of games, an interactive game of parachutes, and for the gentlemen it was eyes on the bulls eye with a game of darts.
The teams battled it out to be crowned sporting champions waved on by resident, Peggy giving everyone a good old shake and wave!
General Manager Julie Bond said: “We always encourage our residents to keep active. With Spring on the way we had a great opportunity to have some indoor fun before we can get outside to enjoy our gardens. Our residents and their guests really enjoyed today and it was lovely to see so many of them getting involved. It reminded all of us of when we were kids at school!”
