Activities at Woodhorn Park Care Home

Activities make up the most important part of all our days at Woodhorn park, so we ensure a variety of social events are available that reflect the interests of all the people we support. In our Memory Lane community, we have group conversations and regularly reminiscence about past experiences, which is something that people living with dementia really enjoy. Many residents love gardening, baking, outings, pet care and gentle exercise, which we provide, along with many other wholesome activities, as it is essential that life at Woodhorn Park is fun and active.

Life at Woodhorn Park Care Home

Brave To Shave , Brave To Shave

Brave To Shave

Rober, son of a resident at Woodhorn Park Care Home, kindly volunteered to take part in the Brave and Shave challenge. He agreed to shave both his breard and his moustache in support of the Alzheimer's Society, as a part of Dementia Action Week. Woodhorn Park home raised £1013.80 throughout Dementia Action Week from a variety of activities held at the home.

Braving the Shave

Here at Woodhorn Park, we are supporting Dementia Awareness Week by holding events from Monday 20th May until Sunday 26th May.

Maggie volunteered to 'Brave the Shave', and so far has collected over £300 for the cause. The monies raised will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Society. Thank you, Maggie, we are so proud of you—well done!

Mother's Day

Here at Woodhorn Park, both residents and the team celebrated Mother’s Day together. Every one of our lovely ladies received a bunch of spring daffodils in addition to either a chocolate in a box or lavender bath bombs in an organza bag. The team were not forgotten, and received a posy of fresh flowers—a small thank you from management at Woodhorn.

Daffodil Donations

The team at Woodhorn Park would like to say a a big thank you to Asda in Ashington for their wonderful donation of spring daffodils for Mother’s Day. Woodhorn Park was lit up with smiles on Sunday; it was a beautiful gesture and very much appreciated by all.

Comic Relief

Comic Relief

The cast of Woodhorn Park hosted a 1970s-themed danceathon in aid of Comic Relief. Residents, visitors and the team enjoyed dancing to Abba dressed in clothing from a fantastic era. In total, we managed to raise £65.50.

Ladies Day

Dorothy and Audrey can be seen above preparing for Ladies Day at Cheltenham. Dorothy, who used to be a scout leader, stood up to the cause and helped others to make their own personal hats and quite remarkable fascinators.

Afterwards, we watched the races with some lovely refreshments on the side.
