Activities at Worplesdon View Care Home

Activities at Worplesdon View

The activities team at Worplesdon View organise and run activities and events for large groups, small groups and individual residents. We include relatives, volunteers and the remaining staff whenever possible and encourage choice and participation from everyone we support. Our programme is planned in advance and is is designed provide tailored, meaningful activities for residents to participate in that will stimulate all senses, whist encouraging mental and physical well-being. We have an activity plan for all residents, and of course, this changes with the needs of each person to keep it up-to-date and useful. Worplesdon View is a fun and dynamic place to live and work, and the secret to this is that everyone is encouraged to see activities as part of their role in the home so that residents are happy and always have something to do.

Garden Party

Garden Party

Worplesdon View held its annual garden party and BBQ for loved ones, staff members and residents. Unfortunately, it howled down, but this did not stop us from having a great afternoon. Lucinda Seiger and Farrago entertained everyone with live music, which was amazing, and we enjoyed a fabulous BBQ, pasta and salads with lots of other delicious refreshments.

Thanks to everyone who came along and for the generous raffle donations.

Lazlo & Christina Bede Perform Brindisi

Lazlo & Christina Bede Perform Brindisi

These are Lazlo and Christina Bede, who are team members at Worplesdon View. They are classically trained singers and provide entertainment regularly for residents. Lazlo is a Maintenance Assistant and Christine is a Hostess. One day, they hope to make it in the classical music world – and they deserve to as they are so talented! They are lovely people who cannot do enough for those living at the home.

You can watch them perform Brindisi here: https://www.youtube.com/embed/P8FvIxoYFiM

Open for Business

Open for Business

The Worplesdon Shop is now open for all those little knickknacks you may forget to buy. As well as the roaming shop, this little shopping cart will be available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, commencing on Wednesday 9th August. It will be displayed in the reception area for all to come and purchase items. We have old fashioned sweets for sale - the sort you would buy in the 1940s and 1950s. It will be run by residents and relatives and supported by the activities team.

Employee of the Month - July

Employee of the Month - July

Congratulations to Lazlo Bede for being named our Employee of the Month for July here at Worplesdon View.

Lazlo is a Maintenance Assistant, but understands the 'whole home' approach when it comes to team work. Due to holidays and other unforeseen events, he stepped in and worked solidly as a Maintenance Assistant, Kitchen Assistant and Housekeeping Assistant.

Lazlo is a trained classical singer; he and his wife, Christine, regularly entertain residents at Worplesdon and other Barchester homes in the region. He has also performed in the local theatre. He is always upbeat, but extremely hard working and deserves to be recognised at the Employee of the Month.

102nd Birthday Celebrations

Worplesdon celebrated the birthday of resident, Donald, on 23rd July. He was joined by his family, residents and team members. He is an amazing and lovely man who is loved by all. We are privileged to be part of his life.
