Activities at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Shelbie Taylor

Head of Activities

Hi my name is Shelbie, I have recently been promoted to Head of Activities here at Boroughbridge Manor.

I have worked at Boroughbridge Manor for 7 years, I love making our residents smile. I get great satisfaction knowing I have made someone’s day better!

Myself, Leoni and Suzanne have created a wonderful culture within Boroughbridge Manor and we work together to give our residents the best possible experiences.

We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. We are extremely fortunate to have our very own minibus, we love taking the residents out for coffee, shopping and lots of fun trips out whether that be to the museum or the seaside.

Life at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home

Supporting the local community during difficult times

We are delighted to be supporting Ripon Community House with emergency food donations.

It's been a difficult time for so many and we are extremely grateful for all the support we have received. We now want to pay it back to the community and help where we can.

We have a basket displayed in our reception area and would appreciate any donations you can provide, no matter how big or small. Already we are seeing so many kind donations.

We thank you in advance for supporting us towards such a great cause.

Staff member, Louisa raises over £300 participating in the Great North Run!

Congratulations to our Business Administrator, Louisa who at the weekend took part in the Great North Run and ran the half marathon (13.1 miles) in an amazing time and raised a brilliant amount of £330 within the home.

Thank you to all those who donated, supported and cheered Louisa on, on her incredible achievement.

Residents celebrate Roald Dahl Day in style!

We had a great time celebrating the British novelist, short-story writer, poet, screenwriter and wartime fighter pilot, Roald Dahl.

During the day, our residents got involved in a variety of fun-filled activities, including a cinema experience afternoon watching Willy Wonka with all the cinema treats - chocolate fountain, popcorn and more!

We all watched a short video on ‘The Life of Roald Dahl’ and took part in a themed quiz.

Throughout the day, there were a number of refreshments and delicious treats.

It was a great day enjoyed by everyone.

Harvest Festival preparations in full swing

We've had a wonderful afternoon as we start getting ready for the the upcoming Harvest Festival.

We started talking in the home about the practices our residents had in place in the local communities and schools.

One of our residents, Joan spoke about basket weaving and the baskets that were created to donate food supplies to those less fortunate. She showed off her creative skills and had a go with some paper to make her own basket.

It was a fun filled afternoon and we look forward to more preparations for the Harvest Festival.

Sunday Fun day at Boroughbridge Manor

We love a baking morning at Boroughbridge Manor, and today made some delicious treats for our afternoon tea. Residents decorated cupcakes and it's safe to say they were thoroughly enjoyed!

We find this kind of activity always great for social interaction and who doesn't love cake?!

Board games on a rainy day

What better way to spend the afternoon when waiting for the impending thunderstorms, then to play board games!

Board games are part of our weekly Life Enrichment Programme and always go down a treat here at Boroughbridge Manor. Board games are known to help increase brain function, and encourages stimulation and always provide a bit of fun!
