Activities at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Shelbie Taylor
Hi my name is Shelbie, I am proud to be the Head of Activities here at Boroughbridge Manor.
I have worked at Boroughbridge Manor since 2013, I love making our residents smile. I get great satisfaction knowing I have made someone’s day better!
Myself, Leoni and Kelly have created a wonderful culture within Boroughbridge Manor and we work together to give our residents the best possible experiences.
We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. We are extremely fortunate to have our very own minibus, we love taking the residents out for coffee, shopping and lots of fun trips out whether that be to the museum or the seaside.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home
Carol Concert
Here at Boroughbridge Manor we are excited for the upcoming festive days and our residents got involved in a carol sing along, provided by Boroughbridge Lions.
Our residents enjoyed a morning of smiles with a live music performance that took place at the home. Local Lions charity organisation from Boroughbridge performed a selection of all-time favourite Christmas songs and carols, which brought happy memories to all. Our residents joined in with the singing, and clapped along.
Christmas Card Making
Our residents got involved in a fun-filled Christmas card making activity session.
We spent the day making, decorating and writing cards to loved ones, friends, staff members and members of the local community.
Everyone was encouraged to work on their skills, some residents preferred to draw on their cards, other to write festive poems and Christmas wishes. We also made some more felt decorations for our trees around the home.
It was a lovely day, which got us into the Christmas spirit and the cards turned out beautifully.
Monthly visit from KL Pony Therapy
One of our favourite visitors was back over the weekend to spread some Christmas cheer!
Kl Pony were back in their Christmas glam to put smiles on the residents faces, getting up close and personal with them and making them laugh!
You can see by the BIG smiles how much they love these visits.
Magic of the Nutcracker
We experienced the magic of the Nutcracker with a special interactive workshop led by English National Ballet Associate Artists.
Our residents were able to take a magical journey thorough Edwardian London and to learn more about the enchanted Nutcracker characters: Clara, the Mouse King, and her valiant Nutcracker doll.
The session included a chair-based dance workshop, clips of the ballet on stage and a Christmas carol sing-along, truly enjoyed by all.
Christmas Truffle Making
We had a lovely time joining Paul Hawkins and Steve Wilkes from Unilever for an exciting immersive Christmas experience.
Our residents were welcomed with chocolate treats as Paul and Steve took them on an exciting chocolate truffle making and biscuit decorating journey.
To finish off the Christmas special event, our residents enjoyed a themed quiz and a singalong.
We all had a wonderful time.
Gingerbread House Making at Boroughbridge Manor
We love any excuse to get creative so when we found out it was Gingerbread House Day on December 12, we didn’t need any persuading to get cracking.
Our talented chef prepared a big batch of gingerbread for our residents, who then got busy decorating with all the decorations to make some of the glitziest gingerbread houses in town.
The gingerbread houses look really lovely and they are indeed delicious - what a fun way to spend the afternoon.
