Activities at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Shelbie Taylor
Hi my name is Shelbie, I am proud to be the Head of Activities here at Boroughbridge Manor.
I have worked at Boroughbridge Manor since 2013, I love making our residents smile. I get great satisfaction knowing I have made someone’s day better!
Myself, Leoni and Kelly have created a wonderful culture within Boroughbridge Manor and we work together to give our residents the best possible experiences.
We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. We are extremely fortunate to have our very own minibus, we love taking the residents out for coffee, shopping and lots of fun trips out whether that be to the museum or the seaside.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home
Residents get down with club culture!
We had a lovely time joining V&A Dundee curator, Kirsty Hassard, as she introduced us virtually to the history and design of night clubs and the club culture from the 1960s to present day.
We explored the evolution and development of night clubs around the world, from Italy to America, and closer to home, looked at their importance as cultural venues and designed spaces.
This current exhibition celebrates night clubs at a very important moment, as we all look to a brighter future where everyone can come back together, to dance and to enjoy nights out once again.
We all enjoyed the virtual talk.
Yorkshire Day celebrations in full swing
Residents at Boroughbridge Manor celebrated the largest county in the UK, Yorkshire Day!
We sampled some Yorkshire delicacies such as Yorkshire puddings, Wensleydale cheese board, rhubarb and Pontefract cake liquorice.
In the afternoon residents watched The Railway Children and enjoyed some Yorkshire Day crafts to get into the spirit. Staff also put together a quiz where residents had to guess the meaning of different words in Yorkshire dialect, we then looked at old television programmes that was filmed in Yorkshire, it brought back lots of great memories.
It was a wonderful day.
Residents celebrate Cowboy Day
For Cowboy Day, residents at Boroughbridge Manor got creative and made some wanted posters for around the building.
We had an interesting afternoon sharing stories where each resident were asked if they were ever in trouble, and the story behind it.
It was a great day to have some fun and find out more about our residents history and memories.
Residents enjoy the start of the Tokyo Olympics!
Residents and staff at Boroughbridge Manor have had a great first few days watching the Tokyo Olympics!
To show our support for all the nations that participate and the Team GB, we decorated our home with special flags, banners and torches.
We’ve organised a series of activities, games, quizzes and themed events for our residents to enjoy during the games.
With how life has been the past year it's great to see the Olympics resuming and we are excited to watch and follow the games.
Fun filled afternoon with a music performance from Trevor Woodhead
A fun filled day with smiles all around at Boroughhbridge Manor with a visit from Trevor Woodhead.
Our residents and staff had a wonderful time singing along with the wonderful Trevor. We do our best to provide a wide range of activities and entertainment at Boroughbridge Manor as part of the lifestyle enrichment programme for residents, and this was one of our favourites!
We can’t wait for our next visit already!
Residents find out about our mechanical friends!
We enjoyed a wonderful virtual introduction to the world of robots with V&A Dundee Curator, Kirsty Hassard.
Kirsty talked us through the history of robots and their early beginnings, the presentation traced the fascination of all things wired and wonderful and considered what the future might hold for our relationship with a multitude of mechanical machines.
It was absolutely thrilling to learn what robots can do now and what they might be able to do in the future.
