Activities at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Shelbie Taylor
Hi my name is Shelbie, I am proud to be the Head of Activities here at Boroughbridge Manor.
I have worked at Boroughbridge Manor since 2013, I love making our residents smile. I get great satisfaction knowing I have made someone’s day better!
Myself, Leoni and Kelly have created a wonderful culture within Boroughbridge Manor and we work together to give our residents the best possible experiences.
We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. We are extremely fortunate to have our very own minibus, we love taking the residents out for coffee, shopping and lots of fun trips out whether that be to the museum or the seaside.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home
Board games on a rainy day
What better way to spend the afternoon when waiting for the impending thunderstorms, then to play board games!
Board games are part of our weekly Life Enrichment Programme and always go down a treat here at Boroughbridge Manor. Board games are known to help increase brain function, and encourages stimulation and always provide a bit of fun!
Residents get creative at Boroughbridge Manor
Residents at Boroughbridge Manor got out their gloves and painted some money boxes for the home and our charity collections.
It sparked an interesting and insightful conversation with them about how they saved a penny back in the day.
Good times reminiscing of good memories!
Residents celebrate Last Night of The Proms with English National Ballet
We celebrated Last Night of the Proms virtually with members of English National Ballet’s Philharmonic Orchestra, led by Music Director Gavin Sutherland.
We listened and danced along as members of the orchestra took us on a magical, musical journey. English National Ballet Philharmonic is made up of many of the country’s top musicians, and boasts considerable experience in all forms of music-making. With insights and anecdotes into what it takes to conduct an orchestra for a world-class ballet company, this special concert got our feet tapping, arms waving and hearts singing!
It was a wonderful experience, enjoyed by all.
Virtual Tour of the Scottish Design Galleries
We had a lovely time joining Becca Clark and James Wylie – members of V&A Dundee’s exhibitions team – as they took us on a virtual tour of the museum’s incredible Scottish Design Galleries.
We were introduced to the wide range of unique objects at the galleries from architecture and engineering, jewellery and textiles to theatre and their fascinating stories.
And we were able to learn more about the importance of all objects in telling the rich and varied history of Scottish design.
It was a lovely talk, enjoyed by all.
Residents get creative at Boroughbridge Manor
Residents at Boroughbridge Manor enjoyed making felt animals so much the other week, that they decided to make some more.
With little hangers residents thought they would look great as Christmas (yes we did say the C word) tree decorations.
They were very pleased with their creativity skills!
Summer Fete fun at Boroughbridge Manor
We had a fun filled afternoon at our Summer Fete yesterday.
We were joined by some great live entertainment by Kim and Dave in the garden, fair games, candy bar and a buffet for all. The egg and spoon race was a particular favourite.
We would like to extend our many thanks and appreciation to those who came, donated prizes and cakes and all the support shown for us here in Boroughbridge Manor. A special thanks to our wonderful team who worked hard to make the afternoon happen.
It was an great afternoon enjoyed by all.
