Activities at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Shelbie Taylor
Hi my name is Shelbie, I am proud to be the Head of Activities here at Boroughbridge Manor.
I have worked at Boroughbridge Manor since 2013, I love making our residents smile. I get great satisfaction knowing I have made someone’s day better!
Myself, Leoni and Kelly have created a wonderful culture within Boroughbridge Manor and we work together to give our residents the best possible experiences.
We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. We are extremely fortunate to have our very own minibus, we love taking the residents out for coffee, shopping and lots of fun trips out whether that be to the museum or the seaside.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home
Residents tour the magnificent gardens at Blenheim Palace
Residents and staff had a lovely time exploring the amazing gardens of Blenheim Palace through a virtual talk, hosted by the Historian - Antonia Keaney.
We enjoyed a virtual look at how the gardens at Blenheim have developed over the past 300 years - from the formality of Henry Wise through to the ‘natural’ landscape created by Capability Brown and beyond.
Everyone was very impressed by the many jewels hidden within the 150 acres of beautiful gardens.
Smiles all round at Boroughbridge Manor care home
There were smiles all round at Boroughbridge Manor care home in Boroughbridge as live entertainers, Kim and Dave are back with their high spirited performances and they did not disappoint!
Residents and staff had a fun filled afternoon dancing, and singing along to some old classic and reminiscing on some great memories.
We look forward to Kim and Dave visiting again next month!
Residents enjoy Bastille Day
Residents and staff marked the National Day of France, also known as Bastille Day.
Our home was decorated with French flags and we all took part in French-themed activities throughout the day including scratch art fireworks/crafts learning some French phrases, reminiscing, dressing up and tasting some French style food which everyone really enjoyed.
Our talented chef prepared some traditional French food, which we all enjoyed with a glass of French wine.
Residents take a walk on the wild side
Residents and staff were able to virtually dive into the impressive wildlife of Dartmoor Zoo.
We explored its grounds and learnt about the unique history of the park from the zoo’s educational team. The culmination of the tour was the live tiger training demonstration, which was wonderful to see and enjoyed by all.
Our residents were delighted to see amazing photos and short videos of the animals.
Residents and staff at Boroughbridge Manor have been loving the Euros!
Boroughbridge Manor care home have been cheering on our favourite teams throughout the Euros.
After the brilliant performance of Gareth’s boys in the semi-final match against Denmark, we were all very excited to watch the final of the UEFA European Championship against Italy at Wembley Stadium.
We supported and cheered England’s players during the final and despite the unfortunate loss, we all raised a glass of fizz to congratulate them on getting so far in the Euros.
Although we didn’t win tonight, it has been a brilliant few weeks of football. The lads did us proud and made it all the way to the final, they played their hearts out. At least we haven’t got long to wait until the World Cup next year!
World Chocolate Day at Boroughbridge Manor
Residents revelled in all things sweet for World Chocolate Day with a range of chocolatey activities.
Our residents enjoyed an exciting baking class, where they made delicious chocolate rice crispy cakes.
In the afternoon, we watched a themed film, tasted our delicious treats and had a discussion about all things chocolate.
It's always wonderful day when chocolate is involved!
