Activities at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Shelbie Taylor

Head of Activities

Hi my name is Shelbie, I have recently been promoted to Head of Activities here at Boroughbridge Manor.

I have worked at Boroughbridge Manor for 7 years, I love making our residents smile. I get great satisfaction knowing I have made someone’s day better!

Myself, Leoni and Suzanne have created a wonderful culture within Boroughbridge Manor and we work together to give our residents the best possible experiences.

We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. We are extremely fortunate to have our very own minibus, we love taking the residents out for coffee, shopping and lots of fun trips out whether that be to the museum or the seaside.

Residents and staff had a fun afternoon at Boroughbridge Manor with preparations in full swing ready for the England Final on Sunday!

We have spent the afternoon decorating the home with flags and banners to mark the special occasion and it's safe to say we are all feeling the excitement for Sunday's game.

The question is... IS IT COMING HOME?

Residents celebrate the return of Wimbledon

Residents at Boroughbridge Manor had a wonderful afternoon watching the first games of the Wimbledon Tournament.

Boroughbridge Manor's tennis fans were delighted to watch the famous matches virtually from the comfort of their armchairs. We all celebrated the opening with fruit platters, healthy fruit mocktails and balloon tennis!

Residents have a wartime experience with Blenheim Palace

Ahead of Armed Forces Day, we were transported back in time for a World War II themed talk and tour of Blenheim Palace, hosted by Antonia Keaney, the Palace’s social historian and author.

Entitled ‘Evacuees and Espionage,’ Antonia’s wartime themed talk focused on how the Marlborough family, estate staff and the Palace itself played a full and energetic part in the war effort.

The talk and tour told the story of how the Palace prepared for the worst, survived the onslaught of 400 boys being evacuated to Blenheim and kept the secrets of MI5.

It was a lovely experience, enjoyed by all.

Life's a picnic at Boroughbridge Manor

Residents at Boroughbridge Manor went all out for National Picnic Week.

Residents enjoyed a picnic in the garden with lots of music and games.  A whole host of freshly baked treats made by head chef Tony helped to get the party started.

The residents and staff enjoyed a selection of cheeses, pasties, pork pies, sandwiches and hot dogs. The fun didn’t stop there as some of the other delights on offer included refreshing juices, sparkling wine and freshly baked cakes and pastries.

A wonderful day enjoyed by all.

Residents celebrate Fathers Day

Residents at Boroughbridge Manor marked Father’s Day in style with a special lunch in honour of all fathers.

Some of the residents met their loved ones in the garden, others enjoyed video calls with their family and friends,

It was a beautiful day as we reminisced fondly of our fathers & father figures.

'Beer' happy for National Beer Day

We had a fun-filled day as we raised a glass and tasted top ales in celebration of National Beer Day.

Our residents enjoyed a mini beer festival in the garden and got involved in a variety of interesting activities.

Some of our residents spent time learning about brewing and the history of beer, others preferred to join the beer tasting session in the garden and to try some British beers.

It was a wonderful day, enjoyed by all.
