Activities at Chacombe Park Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Life at Chacombe Park Care Home

Happy Birthday, Margaret!

Happy Birthday, Margaret!

The lovely Margaret was greeted with the most delicious chocolate and strawberry cake as residents and staff sang Happy Birthday!

Halloween

Halloween

Activities Coordinator, Hannah, gave the residents a bit of a chortle when she welcomed them to the Halloween party dressed as a female vampire who had just eaten her lunch! A good old singalong and hocus pocus dancing was the order of the afternoon as the witching hours came over Chacombe Park.

Ghoulish Humour and Pumpkin Carving

Ghoulish Humour and Pumpkin Carving

Chacombe Park residents had a lovely creative afternoon carving pumpkins in readiness for Halloween and sharing there humorous ghoulish stories.

Spooky!

Spooky!

Chacombe Park residents are getting ready for a spooky time this weekend. Residents made themed bunting in readiness for lots of entertaining tricks and treats during Halloween.

Celebrating National Poetry Day

Celebrating National Poetry Day

We had a lot of fun celebrating National Poetry Day by creating our own limericks with lots of strange words being made up to try and rhyme with Chacombe.

We eventually came up with these two poems - both food related.

Limerick 1

There was a young lady from Chacombe,
Who certainly knew how to bake'em,
the Yorkshire puds were ever so good,
they raided the pantry to make'em,
and that’s why she came to Chacombe.

Limerick 2

Set in the acres of Oxfordshire
Lays a sweet little village called Chacombe,
Where we live in a home,
from which we can roam,
to discover the best eggs and bacon.

I think it's fair to say that we won't be famous poets any time soon.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Resident, Howard, was shown the deliciously decorated cupcakes that were provided by staff and residents to support this fantastic charity day for Macmillan Cancer Support. Howard was clearly spoilt for choice and followed the Activity Coordinator, Hannah Bascott’s, advice and had two!

Hannah’s Chocolate Brownies became the favourite and she was awarded the Best Baker prize.

We are pleased to say that Chacombe Park raised over a hundred pounds and thousands of calories for Macmillan Cancer Support.
