Activities at Chater Lodge Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Maria Durrant

Activities Coordinator

Hello. I am Maria and I have lived in Ketton for most of my life. I worked at the local primary school before joining Chater Lodge in 2019. My first role here was as a Dining Host and have now found my passion in creating an interesting and inclusive programme of activities for all our residents. I like having fun with residents, dressing up, singing songs and celebrating special events. I love being a part of the team here and my career change to Activities Coordinator is the best thing I have ever done.

Life at Chater Lodge Care Home

Visiting our Community Heroes

Our Communities Team were out and about, spreading festive cheer and visiting our heroes in the local community.

We visited Sally and the incredible team at Lavender Mill in Oakham.

Lavender Mill offers an incredible day service for members of the community and their families who have been touched by dementia.

It was a pleasure to speak with the members of Lavender Mill and their families as they enjoyed the last day care event before Christmas, featuring the 'Dukes of Rutland' Ukulele Band

On behalf of our residents at Chater Lodge and our sister home Tixover House Care Home we couldn't have been more delighted to send Sally and the team a bag of much deserved festive treats to say thank you for their invaluable work in the community.

Visit From The Miniature Donkeys

Our home was treated to a visit by two very special today; Declan and Delilah, the festive miniature donkeys,

Our miniature friends brought joy to Chater Lodge Care Home in the run up to Christmas.

Declan and Delilah happily trotted through the halls of the home, spreading smiles amongst our residents, families, and the community. Their gentle presence created a heartwarming atmosphere and left lasting memories at the home.

Meet The Reindeers

Across our homes we got into the Christmas spirit of things by joining a festive live virtual experience, led by Des and Kelly from Performing Pets.

Our residents were thrilled to meet the charming furry friends and get up close and personal with the reindeers.  We certainly learnt some interesting facts about the animals and had a fantastic time.

Mulled Wine and Mince Pies with Parkinson's UK

Barchester’s Tixover House and Chater Lodge Care Home’s, in Ketton and Tixover and Parkinson’s UK got in the Christmas spirit by hosting a series of festive themed coffee mornings featuring Mulled Wine and Mince Pies for our residents and guests.

General Manager’s, Ive Alexander and Zoe Postgate said and agreed: “Christmas really is the most wonderful time of the year and our fantastic residents love to get festive so we’ve pulled out all the stops.  It is so lovely to see them all getting into the Christmas spirit, it’s definitely our favourite time of the year.”
