Activities at Chater Lodge Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Maria Durrant
Hello. I am Maria and I have lived in Ketton for most of my life. I worked at the local primary school before joining Chater Lodge in 2019.
My first role here was as a Dining Host and have now found my passion in creating an interesting and inclusive programme of activities for all our residents.
I like having fun with residents, dressing up, singing songs and celebrating special events. I love being a part of the team here and my career change to Activities Coordinator is the best thing I have ever done.

Shrove Tuesday, or Pancake Day, is a cherished tradition before Lent begins. On this special day, our residents indulged in delicious pancakes.

Staff and residents joined in the fun, we reminisced about pancake day as a child and our favourite toppings
Second Helpings
Residents, relatives and colleagues at the Chater Lodge Care Home in Ketton have recently launched a food bank initiative, collecting food items for ‘Second Helpings’ in Stamford.
Second Helpings is a project run in partnership with Stamford Methodist Church and the whole community. Based in the heart of Stamford, our volunteers work with local suppliers and supermarkets to redistribute surplus food nearing its best before date to the community. Our aim is to ‘feed bellies not bins’ and we are passionate about reducing food waste and working with the community to reduce our environmental impact.
Residents, their relatives and staff have all been touched by the amazing work taking place at the Stamford Methodist Church by the team at ‘Second Helpings’ and has seen the home and local community band together to support the group.
