Activities at Chestnut Gardens Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Rikardas Cirunas
Hello, my name is Rikardus and I am the Activities Co-ordinator at Chestnut Gardens Care Home.
I have worked for Barchester for five years and was so excited to be part of such a excellent team at this beautiful home.
Every day I look forward to supporting our residents in living a full and enriched life and especially enjoy the outdoor activities that we arrange to the local attractions, even if the weather can be unpredictable at times.
We also hold loads of varied internal activities so everyone is catered for and the musicians and therapy animals are a very big hit.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Ladies who lunch!
Chestnut Garden's General Manager, Gayane had a wonderful time at Sutton Mayor, Trish Fivey's charity lunch today organised and run by Councillor, Moira Butt at Oaks Park Golf Club. Many local professional ladies joined together to share ideas and experiences over a fabulous lunch and witnessed a smashing fashion show by Mary from "Lucindas" wonderful "boutique" in Purley
Lunch with Friends!
Chestnut Gardens extended a warm welcome to our friends at the Selsdon and Sanderstead Rotary today. The members meet every week and have to pay for their lunch at their regular venue. We're keen to not only be a big part of the local community, but to ensure we do all we can to help the great work of local charities. Lunch today was "on us!"
Weekly Community Cafe
Our weekly Chestnut Community Cafe, every Wednesday from 2pm to 4pm is open to everyone to enjoy if just to get together for a cuppa and chat or to engage in and enjoy hobbies, interests or entertainment included.
Easter Egg Hunt
Chestnut Gardens are always delighted to open our doors to all! Little Orla thoroughly enjoyed and did very well in the Easter Egg Hunt! She pretty much cleaned up at the end of the day! Thank you for such fun Orla! We'll see you all again very soon
u3a Coffee Morning
We were delighted to welcome Joyce, Ray and 25 members of the local U3A for their regular monthly coffee morning today. Rather than choose a cafe, we invited them to make use of our space and enjoy our hospitality. Chestnut Gardens is very much a community hub and you're very welcome to do the same without charge. (Thanks go to U3A though who kindly donated a sum of money to South East Cancer Centre for whom we are raising funds!)
Our Mini Bus has arrived
Lots of excitement at Chestnut Gardens as our brand new mini bus has arrived. We can wait to get out and about visiting local landmarks and exploring the countryside. The possibilities are endless.
