Activities at Chestnut Gardens Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Rikardas Cirunas
Hello, my name is Rikardus and I am the Activities Co-ordinator at Chestnut Gardens Care Home.
I have worked for Barchester for five years and was so excited to be part of such a excellent team at this beautiful home.
Every day I look forward to supporting our residents in living a full and enriched life and especially enjoy the outdoor activities that we arrange to the local attractions, even if the weather can be unpredictable at times.
We also hold loads of varied internal activities so everyone is catered for and the musicians and therapy animals are a very big hit.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Chestnut Gardens Care Home
Ladies that lunch
Every day feels like fine dining here at Chestnut Gardens. Residents spent the afternoon in our private dining room. They were wined and dined by our head chef Roshan. Fresh fish and chips were the order of the day. Well it was Friday.
Special Birthdays
Every Birthday is special so we make sure that everyone feels a million dollars on their special day. Complete with cake, cards and presents Heather had a wonderful day celebrating.
Community Spirit
Being part of our local community is really important to us. It is nice to be able to give something back. Staff recently visited many local businesses. They talked about the wonderful care they provide to residents as well as all the fabulous facilities the home has. They also took some well deserved treats and gifts too.
They call it puppy love
Everyone at Chestnut Gardens were full of cuddles and fuss when Maisy came to visit. She was a super star and so well behaved. We think the treats may have had something to do with it. We look forward to welcoming her back again.
Cheese and Wine Evening
Chestnut Gardens hosted our first Cheese and wine evening. We had a delicious selection of Cheeses and wines which went down a treat with all of our guests. We had a variety of guests attending from local businesses to our wonderful neighbours. We also welcomed Scott Jenner who entertained us all with his fantastic singing. We all had a lovely evening and we are already looking forward to our next event here at Chestnut Gardens.
Valentines Celebration
Chestnut Gardens celebrated Valentines Day with our very first resident John, and his wife Paul. Our chef prepared a delicious home made dinner with champagne and candlelight all served in our private dining room.
John was delighted to present Sue with a beautiful bouquet of flowers, a box of chocolates and a hand written card.
