Activities at Chestnut Gardens Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Rikardas Cirunas
Hello, my name is Rikardus and I am the Activities Co-ordinator at Chestnut Gardens Care Home.
I have worked for Barchester for five years and was so excited to be part of such a excellent team at this beautiful home.
Every day I look forward to supporting our residents in living a full and enriched life and especially enjoy the outdoor activities that we arrange to the local attractions, even if the weather can be unpredictable at times.
We also hold loads of varied internal activities so everyone is catered for and the musicians and therapy animals are a very big hit.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Chestnut Gardens Care Home
Employee of the Month May
Our dear colleague, Louvina was voted unanimously as our "Employee of the Month" for May! Very well done Louvina, much deserved. Louvina is one of Chestnut Garden's Senior Carers and works tirelessly, either day or nights to ensure the very best life for our residents and the best working environment for her colleagues!
Private Dining
As well as 4 restaurants (one on each floor) Chestnut Gardens boasts a "Private Dining" space. Residents can invite family and friends to dine and enjoy time on their own and a superb fine dining experience!
Dementia Action Week
This week is Dementia Action Week, an Alzheimer's Society initiative. The theme for 2023 is "Diagnosis." Many folk are too worried about what their memory loss what mean, that they retreat in to themselves and won't ask for help and guidance. We're delighted to join our local Waitrose stores to help shoppers understand that they can come to us at Chestnut Gardens and enjoy a complimentary cuppa, slice of chef's award winning gateaux and friendly reassuring chat with our expert team!
A Spa Day!
We don't have to travel far to enjoy a relaxing Spa Day. We have our very own Spa at Chestnut Gardens. Our resident commented, "It's just like being on a Cruise ship without the sea!"
Keep Fit!
Life Enrichment is a whole home approach at Chestnut Gardens. Emily, Head of Administration takes a super Fitness Class weekly with a variety of different genres including seated yoga and even Zumba for those more energetic of us!
Community Cafe
Our regular "open to all" Community Cafe was very busy again this week with attendees being treated to a free manicure and or hand massage!
