Activities at Cheverton Lodge Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our Activities Coordinators are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians, as well as art therapy, flower arranging, Exercise to music and quizzes. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Life at Cheverton Lodge Care Home

King Charles III Coronation
At Cheverton lodge we all celebrated the highly anticipated Coronation of King Charles in style.
Our home was beautifully decorated setting the stage for a Royal Party. Residents and staff came together, along with families and friends to celebrate our new King and talk about the new era the country is entering.
Our chef prepared an assortment of delicious treats for all to enjoy accompanied by a glass of wine, a cuppa or residents very much loved Pimms! . We all had such a brilliant time celebrating the Coronation, such a momentous occasion.

Joan Steele's 103rd Birthday London Tour!
Joan has been with the Cheverton Lodge Community since July 2018, she has celebrated her 99, 100, 101 102 birthdays, here with us.
On Sunday, Joan turned 103. Previously she was asked what she would like to do for her special day to which she replied, I would like to take a drive around London where I was born and grew up, sitting in a high seat so that I can see everything, and Primrose hill to see the Tower of London .
We arranged the Barchester Minibus for her day, with Joan being the only resident, along with our driver Csaba, and Carer Gerry, for her guided tour.
Two days before the event, we dropped leaflets in the neighbourhood surrounding Cheverton Lodge, encouraging local residents to see her off for her trip. To our great surprise several neighbours came to the care home to see her off for the trip. Others waved, in the nearby street and cheered as we pulled out from the car Park . Our Activities Coordinator Maria, decorated the bus with balloons and banners that prominently read “Happy 103 birthday Joan”. Joan’s nephew, also accompanied Joan on her trip.
The minibus toured Central London, the Kings Cross area, where she was born, Tufnell Park where she went to school, and Primrose hill, where she viewed the tower of London.
Wherever Joan went, the lovely people of London clapped and cheered her, taxi drivers, bus drivers stopped, and people in traffic slowed down to see Joan, there was especially very loud applause and cheers when the van stopped at Baker Street as customers were outside enjoying the day.
Joan, never big on showing emotions, was clearly touched, and a little teary eyed and reminiscent as she approached the area where she went to school, which she pointed out to those in the minibus. Back at the care home 2 hours later, Joan enjoyed a light lunch, and later in the afternoon celebrated her birthday, sharing cake with residents, staff and visitors.
