Activities at Cheverton Lodge Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians, as well as art therapy, flower arranging, Exercise to music and quizzes. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Tour De Barchester

The core Tour de Barchester team of Simon McCall, Commercial Director, Genevieve Glover, HR Director, Tony Woollett, Recruitment Director and Shona Conway, Project Coordinator, joined by other Barchester staff members cycled 211 miles from West Yorkshire to London. A superb effort by all involved. On days 3 and 4 of the tour, the team were warmly welcomed by residents, staff, local friends and family with BBQ, a chocolate fountain machine, fabulous music entertainment, trophies, medals, essential cold towels and refreshments. The gardens of all homes along the way were beautifully decorated for the tour with balloon arches, flags, banners and flowers. The cyclists crossed the finish line at Cheverton Lodge Care Home in Islington, London and celebrated this amazing achievement with bubbly.

Baking Bread

Residents at Cheverton Lodge enjoyed making bread with the activities team, using the bread making machine. These facilities are very important to the home because some ladies were keen bakers and enjoyed baking for their families in the past. The home was filled with wonderful baking smells and residents are looking forward to sampling the bread this afternoon and comparing it to shop bought bread.

Special flower arrangements, eating hot cross buns, decorating the home and getting the garden ready for the egg hunting- Cheverton style! The weekend weather was glorious, so we made the most of the garden, enjoying the fresh air with family and friends.
