Activities at Cheverton Lodge Care Home
Our Activities Coordinators are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians, as well as art therapy, flower arranging, Exercise to music and quizzes. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.
Cara Nutt
I joined Cheverton Lodge in 2024 as an Activity Coordinator. I completed a Health and social care level 2 and performing arts at college. I have worked as an activity coordinator in a care home setting for over 5 years. I love my role, the passion and drive it gives me to ensure everyone receives a fun and fulfilled lifestyle, which is person centred to them.
I love being creative, I sing in my spare time alongside playing the electric guitar, piano and also writing my own music. I look forward to my journey here at Cheverton lodge, and bringing lots of fun!

Life at Cheverton Lodge Care Home
Christmas Dinner
Food, glorious food! Just like your Christmas, food (and mulled wine!) are a focal point of our care home festive celebrations. For the big day itself, our talented chefs were set to pull out all the stops on Christmas day to ensure the veggies were prepped, the turkey was basted to perfection and the home was filled with the aroma of mulled wine! Our residents enjoyed a turkey dinner with all the trimmings, followed by Christmas pudding and whipped cream or brandy butter for that extra bit of indulgence.
Exercise Time
At Cheverton Lodge residents take part in exercising classes 3 times a week to keep strong and healthy. They particularly love playing with a giant beach ball and the stimulating parachute!
Afternoon Tea
Residents enjoyed a cake experience, having the opportunity to taste 7 varieties of delicious cakes baked by our talented Head Chef.
Looking Back
The Kissing it Better charity is linking older people in care homes to the outside world through Zoom every week. This time was all about residents' memories about World War II when they were just kids.
Flowers of Youth
When you get some beautiful flowers, it only means one thing: a morning of flower arranging!
With some eager and very creative residents, it was a lovely morning activity – and now we have some gorgeous flower displays around the home.
Black History Month
At Cheverton, residents and staff enjoyed some amazing ethnic food and music from all over the world!
We celebrated the extraordinary contribution that our Afro-Caribbean communities have made to the United Kingdom and globally. It honours the life, experience and history of people of Afro-Caribbean ethnicity.
