Activities at Cheverton Lodge Care Home
Our Activities Coordinators are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians, as well as art therapy, flower arranging, Exercise to music and quizzes. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.
Cara Nutt
I joined Cheverton Lodge in 2024 as an Activity Coordinator. I completed a Health and social care level 2 and performing arts at college. I have worked as an activity coordinator in a care home setting for over 5 years. I love my role, the passion and drive it gives me to ensure everyone receives a fun and fulfilled lifestyle, which is person centred to them.
I love being creative, I sing in my spare time alongside playing the electric guitar, piano and also writing my own music. I look forward to my journey here at Cheverton lodge, and bringing lots of fun!

Life at Cheverton Lodge Care Home
Pancake Day
Throughout the morning, we spent time making pancake mix with a few residents. Some of them enjoyed helping, whilst others preferred watching, but all of them had a good time!
Residents liked reading a fact sheet about the history of Pancake Day and many were able to remember the original reason for celebrating the occasion, which is, of course, to mark the beginning of Lent.
Staff and residents were each treated to a delicious pancake with a choice of toppings, including lemon, sugar, ice cream, chocolate and berries!
Most residents are very traditional and they preferred “good old lemon and sugar” - not Irene, though, who chose chocolate, cream and berries.
It was a special day and everybody enjoyed reminiscing about the sweet treats that they’ve enjoyed with their families for decades.
Reminiscence Therapy
Residents had the opportunity to recall the past, remembering details of earlier times and sharing their memories with everyone else.
Cheese & Wine Tasting
Every week, we hold a social event where residents can gather together to socialise; on the first week of February, we had a cheese & wine tasting evening. We tasted differents types of cheese and washed them down with some delicious wine. Cheers!
Valentine's Day
At Cheverton, we celebrated Valentine's Day with a very romantic musical show, followed by an afternoon tea party with lots of sweets, heart shaped cakes and biscuits. There were roses for all residents and guests and a glass of sparkling wine. All we need is love!
Violet's 100th Birthday Party
Celebrations have been in full swing at Cheverton, as a resident reached her 100th birthday in style. Violet was joined by staff, relatives and other residents as she received a telegram from the Queen in recognition of her landmark birthday on 10th February.
She was amazed to have so much fuss made about her and was delighted with the celebrations. Violet is a lovely lady, who has been witness to so many things this past 100 years. It is a privilege to know her and sharing this day with her has been a pleasure.
Burns Night
We celebrated Burn's Night with loads of Scottish music, videos and, most importantly, Robert Burns poetry! Residents, friends and family joined us this time to try some traditional Scottish food and a glass of wine or two.
