Activities at Cheverton Lodge Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians, as well as art therapy, flower arranging, Exercise to music and quizzes. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Cara Nutt

Activities Coordinator Lead

I joined Cheverton Lodge in 2024 as an Activity Coordinator. I completed a Health and social care level 2 and performing arts at college. I have worked as an activity coordinator in a care home setting for over 5 years. I love my role, the passion and drive it gives me to ensure everyone receives a fun and fulfilled lifestyle, which is person centred to them.

I love being creative, I sing in my spare time alongside playing the electric guitar, piano and also writing my own music. I look forward to my journey here at Cheverton lodge, and bringing lots of fun!

Wild Science Animal Therapy

The benefits of animal therapy are well documented; simple interactions, such as stroking, is beneficial to people of all ages.

Different animals bring different textures and personalities to the session. A mixture of cute fluffy animals and silky smooth reptiles provide a great experience that stays with people long after they leave.

Animal therapy is the ideal way for residents who may be less mobile to interact with animals and benefit from a new and unique experience.

Sandwich Making

Sandwich Making

Residents and staff members were busy all morning making dozens of Argentinian sandwiches, which everybody enjoyed in the afternoon with drinks, muffins, strawberries and cream – yummy!

The Hope International charity visited us as part of their community work program. A group of 15 youngsters joined us over the weekend and residents enjoyed their company, playing games, singing and chatting. Resident and centenarian, Lawrence, delighted visitors with amazing stories from his days as a journalist and writer.

Exercise & Movement

Exercise & Movement

Regular exercising helps residents to keep fit and improves their health, so we took advantage of a sunny day and organised our weekly morning class in the garden. The sessions include work with balls, flexiband exercises, as well as stretches and aerobic movements.

The Queen's Garden Party

The Queen's Garden Party

Residents, relatives and visitors gathered at a garden party to celebrate the Queen's birthday.
