Activities at Claremont Parkway Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Elain Carey
Hi. My name is Elain and I help to deliver the daily programme of activities and entertainment and celebrations - there is always a birthday to celebrate! I like to see residents making friends and chatting with each other. I have a background in dance, music and acting, and I am also a qualified Zumba instructor, so I love it when we have entertainers in the home. We also have regular visits by therapy pets which residents find very relaxing.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Claremont Parkway Care Home

Mama Mia! National Pizza Day
Today at Claremont we celebrated National Pizza day, residents were shown by head chef Jorge how to make the pizza base which resident Beth excelled at. Each resident chose the toppings they wished to have on their pizzas which consisted of mushrooms, red peppers, ham, pineapple, onion, cheese and sliced tomatoes.
Once made they were taken to the kitchen for head chef Jorge to cook for us. The residents each enjoyed a slice of their home made pizza.
Claremont Parkway would also like to say a huge thank you to Pizza Time of Kettering who kindly donated 6 pizzas for residents and staff to enjoy. Pizza was shared around the home to residents and their visiting families, which of course everyone enjoyed!
Residents enjoyed talking about their own favourite pizza and topping of choice as well as learning many fun facts around this special day for all pizza lovers. A fantastic day enjoyed by all, with lots of laughs making the pizzas to start with.

Bubbling Feet, Relaxing Fun
Relaxation is always a great benefit to everyone, taking that time out for ourselves offers so many rewarding benefits.
The advantages of receiving a relaxing foot spa, with relaxing music and dimmed lighting certainly helps with the residents at Claremont Parkways mental well being, and the residents always feel relaxed afterwards.
Trish part of the activities set outside some quiet time yesterday morning and everyone who took part thoroughly enjoyed the morning and felt really pampered.

Dean Jones Entertains
Once again on Friday 7th February at Claremont we welcomed Dean Jones who performed a wonderful selection of songs from some of the greatest singers of all time including Dean Martin, The Beatles, Tom Jones, Elvis, Manfred Mann, Neil Diamond and many more bringing a sense of joy and nostalgia to our residents. These timeless songs evoke cherished memories, fostering a sense of connection to their past and uplifting their spirits.
The lively performance encouraged participation, with the residents often singing along, clapping and waving their arms, promoting physical activity and social interaction.
The performance yesterday afternoon was made even more special as a few of our residents had been joined by family members: Peter was joined by his wife Helen, Vivienne had her husband Winston, Joyce had her son Nick and Noelle had her daughters with her, all of whom moved to the music and joined in with the singing.
It is always lovely when friends and family come along for the entertainment and spend time with their loved ones.

Remembering Buddy Holly
Today our residents were transported back to the golden age of rock 'n' roll as a talented tribute act, I Can't Believe it's not Buddy paid homage to Buddy Holly. Playing the same sunburst Fender Stratocaster guitar that Buddy Holly used to make Rock ‘n’ Roll history he brought his timeless hits to life.
With classics like Peggy Sue, That'll Be the Day, Heartbeat, Maybe Baby, filling the room, smiles spread across faces, and memories of jukebox days and dance halls came flooding back.
Staff and residents alike clapped, tapped their feet and even swayed along, reliving the magic of the 1950s. The performance was not just a celebration of Buddy Holly's music but a heartfelt reminder of the joy and nostalgia it continues to bring across generations.
e were also treated to songs by Elvis with Blue Suede Shoes, Jerry Lee Lewis with Great Balls of Fire, and Eddie Cochran with Summertime blues! The residents all had a memorable afternoon and were extremely grateful for the afternoon’s special entertainment.

Guinea Pig Petting
Thursday mornings are always a treat for the residents of Claremont Parkway, as they always look forward to seeing volunteer Margaret who brings along two of her guinea pigs to take round to residents in the home. A group of residents enjoyed having tea and biscuits while chatting and of course seeing the adorable guinea pigs.

G-Fitness Fun with Tom
Tom from GFitness came to visit yesterday and gave our residents some gentle exercise routines. Exercise is an important part of their well-being providing physical, mental, and social benefits whilst improving movement, balance and strength.
Mentally exercise has shown to boost mood, reduce anxiety and depression and social group activities such as chair exercises encourage interaction and can lead to a happier and healthier lifestyle for our residents.
