Activities at Claremont Parkway Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Elain Carey
Hi. My name is Elain and I help to deliver the daily programme of activities and entertainment and celebrations - there is always a birthday to celebrate! I like to see residents making friends and chatting with each other. I have a background in dance, music and acting, and I am also a qualified Zumba instructor, so I love it when we have entertainers in the home. We also have regular visits by therapy pets which residents find very relaxing.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Floral Fun for Open Day
This weekend we brightened up winter by celebrating our homes Open Day in conjunction with International Flower Day.
Staff, residents, relatives and the local community came together to enjoy an open day full of flower themed activities including fresh flower arranging into the cutest of teapots.
The homes hospitality team provided our guests with a delicious array of homemade flower topped cupcakes to enjoy as they viewed our beautiful home and we were joined by vocalist Dean Jones who sang classics from Elvis and Frank Sinarta mixed in with the odd flower themed song and our residents’ favourite; Delilah we renamed for the day… Dahlia!
Staff made everyone feel welcome and were delighted to see so many new people visit our home.
Joanna Mosses, General Manager at the home, said: “Staff at Claremont Parkway are dedicated to making sure that the home is a hub of the local community, and this event, along with all the amazing themed activities and entertainment made it a wonderful day for all involved.”

What a fantastic 'Meet the Alpacas' Event
Our residents gathered in anticipation of what they would see as all Barchester homes linked live with the team from ‘JanJ Alpacas’, a family-run alpaca farm based in Dry Doddington.
Everyone was thrilled to virtually meet the charming furry friends and enjoyed getting up close and personal with the beautiful alpacas. We discovered some fascinating facts about these amazing animals and shared plenty of laughs along the way!
We love all types of animals at Claremont Parkway, whether meeting them virtually or in the flesh animals are such good therapy for our residents.

Experience the joy of relaxation!
We're delighted to introduce our new foot spa sessions at Claremont Parkway, where resident wellness is always our top priority. Our journey began when General Manager Jo and Activities Assistant Trisha transformed our garden lounge into a serene sanctuary. Complete with soothing music, gentle candlelight, and calming essential oils, this peaceful corner offers our residents a truly therapeutic experience.
Our residents can now enjoy warm, bubbling foot spas combined with gentle massage – a perfect combination that helps improve circulation while providing deep relaxation. This treatment is particularly beneficial for those with diabetes, and it's a wonderful way to practice self-care and support overall wellness.
The smiles say it all! Residents Mari and Phyllis were among the first to enjoy these pampering sessions. Phyllis delightfully shared that her feet 'felt like they were dancing the whole day long!'
Following this wonderful response, Jo and our activities team are excited to announce regular spa days, featuring both foot spas and hand massages. These therapeutic sessions aren't just about relaxation – they're about creating moments of mindfulness that reduce stress and enhance mental wellbeing.
Your loved ones deserve this touch of luxury, and we're here to provide it!

Reggae Beats with Ray
On Thursday afternoon the residents of Claremont Parkway were entertained by the fabulous Reggae Ray, the rhythmic beats and uplifting lyrics of reggae music create a lively, relaxed atmosphere that can lift the spirits of each resident sparking smiles and encouraging movement. Music has the power to evoke positive memories and emotions.
This type of interactive performance promotes mental and emotional well-being, reducing stress and encouraging social interaction amongst residents and offers a refreshing break from routine leaving us feeling valued, engaged, and revitalized.
Both the residents and staff had a fabulous afternoon and expressed how great Reggae Ray was as a singer as well as being kind and considerate to all and were looking forward to him returning to Claremont later in the year with more great songs by Buddy Holly, Bob Marley and many more.

Out in the Claremont Parkway Gardens
After breakfast our residents love to make the most of the sunshine and bright blue skies, even though its January and Jack Frost had been about!
Encouraging residents to venture outside during winter to observe early signs of Spring offers numerous benefits for their well-being. As the seasons begin to shift, noticing small changes like budding trees and emerging flowers, or the return of birds can foster a sense of hope and renewal.
These simple yet uplifting moments remind them that warmer days are ahead, boosting their mood and reducing feelings of isolation or seasonal depression. The fresh air promotes better physical health and engaging with nature helps stimulate the mind. Una, Mollie, Beth and Ashley expressed how lovely it was to get out in the fresh air and that it made a nice change from being indoors and were looking forward to going out again.
