Activities at Claremont Parkway Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Elain Carey
Hi. My name is Elain and I help to deliver the daily programme of activities and entertainment and celebrations - there is always a birthday to celebrate! I like to see residents making friends and chatting with each other. I have a background in dance, music and acting, and I am also a qualified Zumba instructor, so I love it when we have entertainers in the home. We also have regular visits by therapy pets which residents find very relaxing.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Happy Chinese New Year of the Snake
Yesterday residents at Claremont Parkway celebrated the Chinese new year of the Snake. We learnt all about the Chinese zodiac and the meaning behind each animal of the zodiac. Our residents enjoyed Spring rolls, vegetable stir fry and prawn crackers, followed by a delicious chocolate and orange pudding.
The residents each had a Fortune cookie, which were kindly donated by the GOOD WORLD Kettering Chinese Takeaway in Field Street, Kettering. A big thank you to them for the generous gift.
We also enjoyed delicious cupcakes in the afternoon made by the home chef, which went down a treat with a lovely cup of tea.

Cats, Chickens and Cuddles at Claremont
Today we were joined by Michelle and her lovely animals, a visit from animals in a care home setting can bring immense joy and therapeutic benefits to our residents, the warmth and affection from animals often evoke smiles and laughter and can spark memories, encourage communication, and provide a comforting sense of connection and physical interaction.
We were delighted to have cuddles with her new kitten as well an array of other animals that all our residents enjoyed learning about as well as holding them throughout the afternoon.

Jackson Pollock Art Session
Celebrating Jackson Pollocks birthday on January 28th provided the residents of Claremont Parkway with a creative and stimulating activity inspired by his famous drip painting technique. They embraced his abstract expressionism by splattering paint onto paper, exploring their artistic freedom and enjoying the immersive process.
Art can be both therapeutic and enjoyable, boosting mood, coordination, and self-esteem. Additionally, it offers a chance for social engagement, as the group discussed colours, techniques and the meaning behind their creation fostering a sense of accomplishment and community, Jean commented at the end of the session that we should call it the magical garden.

National Lego Day of Fun
National Lego day provided a unique opportunity for our residents to reminisce and engage in creative activities, it brought back fond memories of playing with similar toys during their youth or watching their children enjoy them. Several of our residents had Lego kits as gifts at Christmas but have not yet constructed them!
We also learnt some amazing facts including James May building a house out of 3.3million brings and after looking on the internet watched some of the house being constructed.
Building with Lego encourages fine motor skills, focus and problem-solving in a fun, relaxing way. The shared experience fosters a sense of community, joy an accomplishment, enhancing overall wellbeing.

Burns Afternoon
Burns night was celebrated at Claremont Parkway this afternoon by the talented Matt Miller, who not only sang a mixture of Scottish songs, but also played some on his trombone and we also listened to the bagpipes.
Dressed in a traditional kilt befitting for the occasion Matt spoke about the songs he sang which included Mull of Kintyre, Skye boat song, Donald Where's Your Trousers or Troosers! and Flower of Scotland. The residents joined in and certainly enjoyed the afternoon entertainment.
Matt also read out the poem ‘Addressing the Haggis’ which the residents thoroughly enjoyed with their tea consisting of Haggis, Neeps & Tatties!
