Activities at Claremont Parkway Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Claremont Parkway Care Home

Making our Remembrance display

At Claremont Parkway we made beautiful poppies for our Remembrance display.

Music and dancing with Bob

We had a lovely afternoon at Claremont Parkway thanks to entertainment from Bob Ward with his wonderful saxophone and clarinet playing. We even had a dance. Janet danced with Elaine from our Activities Team, and Ann danced with Steve, our Head of Maintenance.

Tasting some warming winter treats

At Claremont Parkway we enjoyed a virtual cooking demo by ‘Vegetarian for Life’. In just one hour they showed us delicious seasonal dishes such as Mac & Cheese, Root Vegetable Tagine, Flapjacks, Chocolate pots and shortbread. It was fascinating to watch and then we enjoyed tasting these recipes thanks to Vera in our kitchen team. Delicious!

Halloween crafts and fun

At Claremont Parkway we painted and carved pumpkins for a lovely seasonal display. We also made a flower arrangement using skills we learned in a recent virtual event with Blooming Haus florists. We enjoyed Halloween treats and watched Ghostbusters to build the Halloween mood – many of us remember when the film came out in 1984. Peter enjoyed the fun seasonal crafts with other residents, Elain from the Activities Team, and Carer, Kayleigh.

Armchair travel to India

Peter loved our day of armchair travel to India held at Claremont Parkway. Our travel experience began with a three-course lunch, freshly made by the home’s catering team. The menu included chickpea & vegetable soup, onion bhajis, lamb biryani, vegetable korma, sweet rice kheer and honey sponge cake. Lunch was followed by a virtual trip to historic sites including the Taj Mahal, the Gateway of India, Pathirakali Amman Temple, and Meenakshi Temple. Residents loved the amazing colours. Later we watched films of Shiva Shambho dancing and tried classical gestures and poses used in Bollywood dancing. The day was filled with new cultural experiences and enjoyed by all.

Beautiful autumn wreaths

We are welcoming in the autumn by being creative with the gorgeous, rich colours we find on walks in our garden at Claremont Parkway. We have made some lovely wreaths to decorate our corridors and lounges. Senior Carer Nina, and Resident Ambassador Jayne, enjoyed an afternoon together discussing what they enjoy about this season.
