Activities at Claremont Parkway Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Elain Carey

Acting Activities Coordinator

Hi. My name is Elain and I help to deliver the daily programme of activities and entertainment and celebrations - there is always a birthday to celebrate! I like to see residents making friends and chatting with each other. I have a background in dance, music and acting, and I am also a qualified Zumba instructor, so I love it when we have entertainers in the home. We also have regular visits by therapy pets which residents find very relaxing.

Tiny Farm Visits

Our homes been full of animal mischief this week with a visit from Lucia's Tiny Farm. Residents were so excited and delighted to see animals such as guinea pigs and rabbits roaming around our newly refurbished home.

The troop of small animals explored most areas, in and out of bedrooms getting to know everyone. Animals of all types bring such pleasure, our residents loved sharing memories of their own pets and having conversations with Lucia about the care of each little creature. After feeding on snacks of grass and vegetables most of the guinea pigs and plush furred rabbits fell asleep as residents our stroked and cuddled them.

Jayne, the homes Resident Ambassador particularly enjoyed holding ‘Bernard’ the bearded dragon and ‘Pepper’ the tortoise. Although everyone agreed the star of the show was ‘Ethel’ the chicken who had the home in fits of giggles as she attempted to photo-bomb pictures!

Our General Manager Natalie Maxwell said: “Our residents had so much fun with their animal visitors today. We’re always looking for new activities for the residents and today we have seen the enjoyment and therapeutic influence animals can have everyone. With Christmas fast approaching we have another animal surprise our residents and staff again with a visit from Santa’s Reindeers due at Claremont Parkway 12th December!”

Awarded 5* Food Hygiene Rating

On 15th November 2022 Claremont Parkway Care Home received an unannounced inspection from the Food Standards Agency and, we’re absolutely delighted to say we have been awarded a 5-star food hygiene rating by the local authority.

The achievement is the highest rating a care home can receive from an Environmental Health officer, and shows the home has complied with all the statutory obligations; showing outstanding food hygiene standards.

General Manager, Natalie Maxwell commented “Following the unannounced inspection, we’re extremely pleased to have been awarded 5-stars for our food hygiene. Achieving the highest possible standard is incredibly important and I’m so proud of Head Chef Jorge Miranda and the Hospitality team at Claremont Parkway.

The inspector commented on Jorge’s extensive knowledge and this award is in recognition of the whole teams continued hard work in maintaining the hygiene and cleanliness standards in our kitchen.”

Food hygiene ratings are an inspection given to a food business that reflects the standards of food hygiene found on the date of inspection or visit by the local authority.

The ratings assess:

- How hygienically food is handled – prepared, cooked, reheated, cooled and stored.
- The cleanliness of a business, including taking into consideration layout and ventilation.
- How food records are managed.

Remember, we're here to help and there's always a freshly made cake waiting for you courtesy of our amazing hospitality team!
