Activities at Cookridge Court Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Laura Marshall
My name is Laura and I am the Head Activities Coordinator here at Cookridge Court. I have worked in care since 2014 and get so much satisfaction out of knowing I have made a difference to people’s days and have filled the home with a sense of community and happiness. We have created a wonderful culture within our home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active and ensure we all know each residents' preferences so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. The strong relationships we build with our residents, their families and friends is essential to our homely feel.

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Cookridge Court Care Home
Inside the Eden Project
Residents across our homes had a fantastic time exploring the Eden Project virtually - an educational charity and visitor attraction based in Cornwall, featuring sprawling outdoor gardens and breathtaking biomes that house the largest indoor rainforest in the world.
During the session, residents who joined were reconnected with nature through their senses, memories and stories. A big thank you to the community team at the Eden Project for the wonderful event.
Bluebirds Visit and Song
Our residents were taken back in time to reminisce over the old classics and celebrate victory in Europe and the end of World War II.
We enjoyed an incredible visit by the Bluebirds as they wowed the audience with a rendition of wartime classics and sing a long favourites!
It was certainly an afternoon to remember.
Creative Arts
We were delighted to welcome back Tracey from Creative Minds Arts and Crafts, as she hosted another magnificent and popular arts class, which saw our residents paint a series of stunning urban and coastal landscapes.
This was a wonderful way for our residents to express their creativity whilst enjoying each others company in a social enviroment.
Summer Panto Fun
We were delighted to welcome Ava and Julia from North East Productions for an afternoon of fun with the 'Summer Panto'
Our visiting ladies had our residents and guests roaring with laughter, tapping their toes and clapping to the catchy tunes performed.
Everyone had a wonderful time and we look forward to welcoming Ava and Julia back in the future.
Wonders of the ocean
Residents across our services enjoyed a fantastic virtual tour of The Deep, an award-winning aquarium in Hull.
Our residents dived into the underwater world of some fascinating creatures such as sharks, turtles and stingrays.
It was a truly immersive and educational experience that brought the wonders of the ocean right to our screens.
Celebrating Cadbury's
Residents across our services had a wonderful time joining Cadbury for an interactive virtual talk on their fascinating 200-year history.
Residents joining learnt interesting facts about the chocolate giant, shared memories, and reminisced about their favourite sweet treats.
It was a heartwarming experience filled with laughter, nostalgia, and plenty of chocolatey goodness!
