Activities at Cookridge Court Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Laura Marshall

Head Activities Coordinator (on Maternity leave)

My name is Laura and I am the Head Activities Coordinator here at Cookridge Court. I have worked in care since 2014 and get so much satisfaction out of knowing I have made a difference to people’s days and have filled the home with a sense of community and happiness. We have created a wonderful culture within our home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active and ensure we all know each residents' preferences so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. The strong relationships we build with our residents, their families and friends is essential to our homely feel.

Cookridge Primary School Comes to Visit

We welcomed the lovely children from one of our local primary schools, Cookridge primary school.

Our residents were so happy to see the children, who came to do a reading session. Each child brought their favourite book and then read to our residents.

It was a heart-warming experience and we have created memories to cherish. We are excited to see the children of Cookridge primary school again very soon!

A wonderful day out at the Garden Centre

The team and residents spent the day at Tong garden centre! Getting into the festive spirit, we looked at all the Christmas decorations and displays.

After this we visited the garden centre café for a lovely lunch and hot cup of tea.

Resident, Rose said, “I thoroughly enjoyed the day getting out and about and seeing the Christmas decorations! The sandwich from the café was lovely and filled me up till tea time!

Big thank you to the activities team and Tim for getting us there and back in the minibus safely.

Landmark celebrations

Celebrations have been in full swing at Cookridge Court Care Home, as one of its residents reaches her centenary in style. Florence Sharpe was joined by staff, relatives, friends and other residents as she received a telegram from the King in recognition of her landmark birthday. A champagne reception was held at the home and guests enjoyed a special birthday cake made by the home’s chef Lindsay Thewlis.

Florence was born in Bradford where she lived until she was married at the age of 24.  Florence worked in the local post office and loved dancing in her local dance hall to the foxtrot.

Bluebirds live performance

This morning at Cookridge Court we seen the return of The Bluebirds treating us to a 1960's themed show !

Looking stunning in their 1960's outfits and boots to match. Residents gathered together to enjoy an uplifting performance that took us back to the 1960s... classic music of the time from the Supremes to Sir Tom Jones...

Everyone was clapping along and tapping their feet. Smiles all around - Thanks to the bluebirds!

Macmillan Coffee Morning

In recognition of Macmillan Cancer Support , we hosted our very own coffee morning for staff, residents and relatives.

Our talented chef prepared a variety of cakes, cupcakes and delicious treats that everyone enjoyed!

We all had a wonderful day here at Cookridge Court.
