Activities at Cookridge Court Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Laura Marshall
My name is Laura and I am the Head Activities Coordinator here at Cookridge Court. I have worked in care since 2014 and get so much satisfaction out of knowing I have made a difference to people’s days and have filled the home with a sense of community and happiness. We have created a wonderful culture within our home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active and ensure we all know each residents' preferences so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. The strong relationships we build with our residents, their families and friends is essential to our homely feel.

Life at Cookridge Court Care Home
Cookridge Court celebrate National Dog Day
Here at Cookridge Court, we all love dogs, but especially Deputy Manager, Vicki’s Dog…Poppy.
To mark National Dog Day in style, we did a day in the life of Poppy Visiting Cookridge Court!
At 8.30am Poppy Arrived for her shift. After all the fuss & cuddles had settled down, Poppy had her delicious breakfast. Poppy was soon on her travels helping assist the lovely team at the nurses station, making sure everything was running smoothly.
Poppy then took a well deserved break, and was excited to go on a walk with resident Jo around the garden. Later Poppy enjoyed visiting each residents around the home to receive even more cuddles and even watch some television.
Overall, Poppy has had a wonderful day! She has brought smiles, love & laughter to each and every person. It has been a brilliant day.
A whale of a time!
We took a wonderful virtual trip to Iceland and visited the SEA LIFE Trust Beluga Whale Sanctuary to have an inside look into the daily care of their two resident beluga whales: Little White and Little Grey.
Our residents were introduced to the history of the Beluga Whale Sanctuary and learnt more about its mission to provide a more natural home for belugas in human care with a first-hand look at how the dedicated team are not only caring for the whales, but preparing for their future in the sea sanctuary!
It was an enjoyable event for everyone, learning more about the amazing beluga whales and how they are cared for at the sanctuary.
30th Birthday Celebrations
Residents & team members at Cookridge Court came together and threw a surprise party for our Business Administrator Anna, who is turning 30.
Music was playing, drinks were flowing and the lounge became a dance floor. Everyone was in high spirits.
We had a lovely lunch prepared by our fantastic Chef, Sinead followed by some delicious Cake baked by our second Chef Lindsay.
Everyone at Cookridge Court would like to wish Anna a very Happy 30th Birthday.

The return of the Silent Disco at Cookridge Court
This week, Cookridge Court’s residents & team members enjoyed the monthly return of the Silent Disco.
As we know music elevates moods, reduces stress & stimulates good, happy memories. The home is always filled with even more happiness and positive energy. As soon as those headphones go on, the corridors & lounges are filled with the sound of singing. The silent disco is brilliant and is a perfect activity that can be enjoyed by all.
