Activities at Cookridge Court Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Laura Marshall

Head Activities Coordinator (on Maternity leave)

My name is Laura and I am the Head Activities Coordinator here at Cookridge Court. I have worked in care since 2014 and get so much satisfaction out of knowing I have made a difference to people’s days and have filled the home with a sense of community and happiness. We have created a wonderful culture within our home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active and ensure we all know each residents' preferences so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. The strong relationships we build with our residents, their families and friends is essential to our homely feel.

Residents celebrate National Beer Day

You better beer-lieve that residents at Cookridge Court were more than happy to raise a glass, and sample some top ales, in celebration of National Beer Day.

Beer lovers at the home celebrated, and spread beery joy by joining the national toast at 7pm on June 15th, along with millions of people across the country to say ‘Cheers to Beer!’

Residents had a fun filled day as the staff arranged a mini beer festival outside in the sunshine. It was a delightful afternoon and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Residents celebrate the Queens official Birthday

Residents at Cookridge Court had a wonderful day as they marked the Queens official 95th Birthday with a royal tea party in the beautiful sunshine.

Our head chef whipped up a tasty selection of freshly-baked biscuits, pastries and cakes for the special occasion, all washed down with pots of tea.

We enjoyed a variety of royal–themed events including watching virtual tours of royal palaces, writing letters to the Queen, watching old clips of royal tours and occasions.

It was a lovely day, enjoyed by all.

Residents discover the history and treasures of Hereford Cathedral

Residents had a lovely afternoon joining the team from Hereford Cathedral as they were given a glimpse of the spectacular building and its treasures as they were taken on a tour of the site.

From the stunning gardens which lead down to the River Wye, to the Mappa Mundi and Chained Library, the virtual visit shared the history and beauty of the historic building.

It was wonderful to learn more about the history and beauty of Hereford Cathedral.

A big thank you to all of our wonderful Carers!

We would like to take this great opportunity to recognise and thank our wonderful Carers at Cookridge Court.

We are proud of each and every one of our care team for the outstanding care that they provide to our residents every single day. They always go above and beyond their role and for this we are truly grateful.

Our lovely Resident Ambassador, Florence walked round the building with our staff to hand out little thank you gifts and it was truly heartwarming to watch. It's so special to see the great relationships our residents build with our Carers.

National Fish & Chip Day

Residents at Cookridge Court had a wonderful afternoon celebrating National Fish & Chip Day!

Head Chef, Sinead and team did a fantastic job, wrapping up fish and chips for everyone to enjoy.

We spent our lunchtime out in the front garden enjoying the sunshine, eating our fish and chips with a choice of refreshments, and of course finished off with an ice cream.

Residents celebrate national Italian day

Residents and staff at Cookridge Court had a fun filled day celebrating Italy’s National Day. The festival of the republic, also known as Italian National Day, marks the official formation of the country after World War II.

Residents spent some time learning interesting facts about Italy, it’s culture and traditions. The Head Chef Sinead, prepared delicious Italian themed dishes, including pasta and pizza.
