Activities at Cumberland Grange Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Gosia Andrews

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Gosia and I am the Activities Co-Ordinator here at Cumberland Grange.

I have been in the care sector since 2008, and I also have a degree in teaching. I am here to arrange and run a varied Life Enrichment Programme which is full of fun activities for our residents to take part in. We do lots of different activities here which change on a regular basis, including weekly trips out in our mini bus, flower arranging, live musical performances, arts and crafts, cheese and wine nights and so much more. We also have groups which happen every week, mostly lead by our residents, including Poetry Club, Gardening Club, Politics and Pastries, Cumberland Grange Choir and Knit and Natter.

We have monthly resident meetings where we discuss life at Cumberland Grange. We talk about the activities that we currently run, including activities that our residents would like us to incorporate into the planner.

Making wishes come true is also something that we love to do. So, if our resident has a wish, together we try our best to make that happen, because life at Cumberland is about having fun and making even more special memories.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

EXETER CHIEFS

Last week, Mica our Home Services Advisor took a visit to see Tom, Head of Community and Ryan, Community Development Manager from Exeter Chiefs Community to discuss collaborative opportunities for our residents.

Tom, Ryan and the rest of their wonderful team do amazing things with different communities in Exeter and we are thrilled to be apart of their journey in supporting those who love rugby.

We have some big Exeter Chiefs Official rugby fans here at Cumberland and we can’t wait to share with you some of the great plans we have.

FIREWORK NIGHT

Some beautiful pictures from our lovely evening last week celebrating Firework Night. We were joined by some of our wonderful family members and staff off shift to enjoy the display. We wrapped up warm, huddled together with a hot chocolate and had a wholesome night.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Any excuse for a party, right? Not that we need one here at Cumberland.  Our residents have had a lovely afternoon with live music, bubbles, nibbles, wonderful dancing and lots of singing. Smiles all round.

BEAUTIFUL BLOOMS

Whether it’s Autumn, Winter, Spring or Summer, one thing for sure is that our residents will always love to do some flower arranging with gorgeous flowers to put around our home.

It’s amazing what a bright bunch of blooms can do, the conversations they spark and the smiles they bring.

Many of our residents have always been keen gardeners or lovers of gardens, and here at Cumberland we are so lucky to have such a fantastic garden which gives us so much beauty all year round.

CUMBERLAND GRANGE TURNS 3

Oh what a wonderful evening we had at our 3rd Birthday party.

Another year under our belt and another fantastic evening celebrating!

Thank you so much to all of our families and all of the professionals for joining us and helping us dance the night away, you are all simply AMAZING.

A big thank you to the Time Scales ladies for once again gracing us with your beautiful voices and upbeat personalities - so many fun and fabulous songs which got us all up on our feet dancing!

& of course, a huge thank you to The Magic of Graham Prigg for once again blowing all of our minds throughout the night. 10/10.

Our residents had such a great evening and for that, we can’t thank everyone enough for pulling together to give them a night of fun, love and laughter, because they are the reason we do what we do!

A very special 95th Birthday celebration

A recent Birthday celebration for our beautiful Diana.

She enjoyed a Birthday lunch and delicious cake in the private dining room with her family which was wonderfully wholesome and the perfect way to celebrate her 95th Birthday.
