Activities at Cumberland Grange Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Gosia Maliga

Activities Coordinator

I have been in the care sector since 2008, and I also have a degree in teaching. I am here to arrange and run a varied range of activities for our residents to take part in, keep them entertained and enrich their lives. From flower arranging, quizzes, arts and crafts to movies in the cinema, I try to make sure there is something for everyone here to take part in, and tailor events to suit each resident.

BEACH TRIPS

Well, this weather is absolutely GLORIOUS. You do not have to ask us twice if we want to go to the beach and get an ice cream, that’s for sure!

Making the most of the sunshine and soaking up the vitamin D with good friends.

Happy Monday everyone!

We’re out and about on the mini bus this afternoon, enjoying the fresh air and great company.

Hope you’re all having a lovely day!

Celebrating Carers Week

Last week was all about celebrating our amazing carers. They choose to help and care for others and that in itself is just so wonderful.

They are kind, supportive, caring and respectful human beings with hearts of gold.

We are all so grateful for all you do.

& whilst writing, please let us introduce you to our incredible Deputy Manager Daniela (on the far right) who has recently joined the Cumberland Grange Team. Daniela has years worth of experience and is so passionate about her role. She wants the absolute best for our residents and her team. We are very lucky to have her.

AUSTRALIA NIGHT

How could we only share a few photos from what was such a fun and wonderful evening? We just had to share them all.

Australia night saw us drinking Australian wines and beers, along with a few nibbles to eat. We laughed all night long, which is exactly what we do best here!

Cumberland Grange is a happy home and we can't wait for more residents to join us.

Poetry Reading

This week, we done something a little different and shared some of our favourite poetry.

Here are a couple of photos of some of our residents reading theirs so beautifully.

This was enjoyed so much by us all. We can see a poetry club forming!

JUBILEE TREE

This afternoon we planted a tree in honour of Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

To mark the special occasion our residents wanted to do something thoughtful and special. So we wrapped up warm (it’s rather windy here in Exeter today!) and our General Manager Michele planted the tree before we popped open a bottle of bubbly, and raised a glass to our wonderful Queen.

Cheers.
