Activities at Cumberland Grange Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Gosia Maliga

Activities Coordinator

I have been in the care sector since 2008, and I also have a degree in teaching. I am here to arrange and run a varied range of activities for our residents to take part in, keep them entertained and enrich their lives. From flower arranging, quizzes, arts and crafts to movies in the cinema, I try to make sure there is something for everyone here to take part in, and tailor events to suit each resident.

International Nurses Day

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL NURSES DAY 💙

Today General Manager Michele, Home Services Advisor Mica and our wonderful resident Maureen visited the RD+E hospital to deliver some freshly made cupcakes to some of the amazing nurses on the childrens ward.

Today we are celebrating and honouring nurses who work so tirelessly to look after us all. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

The cupcakes were greatly accepted and appreciated - just a small gesture to brighten up the nurses busy day.

We met our local PCSO's

Thank you so much to our wonderful PCSO’s for joining us on Monday to answer our questions and meet some of our residents, and community.

Another big thanks to Kate for bringing in this lovely map of Pinhoe which highlighted some areas which we were able to discuss.

Love seeing our community working together and supporting one another.

Thank you to all who attended.

NATIONAL DONUT WEEK

Over the weekend our residents enjoyed an afternoon get together with pots of tea and yummy donuts - not that we need an excuse to eat donuts, of course.

Exeter Cathedral mini bus trip

Last week we took a trip to Exeter Cathedral for a walk, coffee and cake.

With V.E day on the horizon, we felt the Cathedral was a suitable and certainly beautiful place to visit.

We took in the fresh air and enjoyed being out and about before returning back home for some supper.

Shortbread making

We don’t want to blow our own trumpets but we make a great shortbread biscuit.

Here at Cumberland Grange we incorporate baking sessions into the activities that we offer. Residents decide what they’d like to bake and our fabulous chefs get us all of the ingredients so that we can bake our favourite treats.

We always have great fun with lots of laughter.

Gardening in the sunshine

Over the weekend we decided to make a start on sorting out our planters.

They’d become slightly wild so we got our gardening tools out and got to work.

We will soon be using these planters to grow our own vegetables and herbs.
