Activities at Cumberland Grange Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Gosia Maliga

Activities Coordinator

I have been in the care sector since 2008, and I also have a degree in teaching. I am here to arrange and run a varied range of activities for our residents to take part in, keep them entertained and enrich their lives. From flower arranging, quizzes, arts and crafts to movies in the cinema, I try to make sure there is something for everyone here to take part in, and tailor events to suit each resident.

A TASTE OF GREECE

This week our residents tucked into some delicious Greek nibbles and tried some beautiful Greek wines.

We play music, we chat, we eat and we drink - but most of all, we laugh! Cumberland Grange is such a happy home and thanks to our wonderful Activities Coordinator Gosia, we always have something fun to do.

Our residents are the centre of everything we do! They say, we do 💚

INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM DAY

Today we had a wonderful visit from the Royal Albert Memorial Museum who led a fantastic talk on the subject ‘Spring’.

To start off the afternoon our residents were each given a book on birds which was paired with a sound track, recorded by someone who was lucky enough to work with Sir David Attenborough. We then looked at lots of different bird eggs which was totally fascinating.

The session was finished off with some incredible artefacts and their history.

With huge thanks to RAMM for such a great afternoon. Our residents thoroughly enjoyed it.

Austrian Cheese & Wine Night

This week we celebrated a taste of Austria with Austrian beers, wines and nibbles!

Gosia our Activities Co-Ordinator pulled out all the stops this week and was our very own Austrian bar maid.

Our cheese and wine nights are loved by all. We eat, we drink, we laugh, we sing and we dance!

A trip to Greendale Farm Shop

A trip to one of our favourite local places Greendale Farm Shop for a coffee, a piece of cake and some beautiful fresh air.

Our mini bus trips are always so much fun! We laugh the whole way there, and the whole way back.

International Nurses Day

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL NURSES DAY 💙

Today General Manager Michele, Home Services Advisor Mica and our wonderful resident Maureen visited the RD+E hospital to deliver some freshly made cupcakes to some of the amazing nurses on the childrens ward.

Today we are celebrating and honouring nurses who work so tirelessly to look after us all. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

The cupcakes were greatly accepted and appreciated - just a small gesture to brighten up the nurses busy day.

We met our local PCSO's

Thank you so much to our wonderful PCSO’s for joining us on Monday to answer our questions and meet some of our residents, and community.

Another big thanks to Kate for bringing in this lovely map of Pinhoe which highlighted some areas which we were able to discuss.

Love seeing our community working together and supporting one another.

Thank you to all who attended.
