Activities at Cumberland Grange Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Gosia Maliga
I have been in the care sector since 2008, and I also have a degree in teaching. I am here to arrange and run a varied range of activities for our residents to take part in, keep them entertained and enrich their lives. From flower arranging, quizzes, arts and crafts to movies in the cinema, I try to make sure there is something for everyone here to take part in, and tailor events to suit each resident.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

HOSPITAL RADIO EXETER
We are so excited to announce that we have teamed up with Julia and Richard from Hospital Radio Exeter and they will be kindly dedicating a Friday evening 7pm - 8pm to us for the next 4 weeks.
Our residents will be able to request their favourite songs to be played and also shout outs to their families and friends.
We are so excited to be apart of this and can’t wait to tune in this Friday!
If you would like to listen in, you can access the station by downloading the Hospital Radio Exeter App or accessing it via the internet.
FAMILY AND FRIENDS, if you would like to send a message to one of your loved ones, please email Mica on mica.yates@barchester.com
COMMUNITY SPIRIT
Last week we were invited to be apart of an inter-generational community cooking activity for families in our local community at Westbank Charity hub. We used the produce supplied by Fareshare South West and Fareshare Go produce donated by Tesco Exeter Vale and the Community Champion led a session offering families the opportunity to learn what can be cooked using a few simple ingredients resulting in a healthy nutritional meal.
Some discussion took place after lunch on costings and budgeting to feed a family. It was amazing to see three generations working together and having fun in the kitchen!
We loved every second. Thank you very much Westbank and the wonderful Tesco Community Champion John for inviting us and thank you so much to the families for allowing us to join and be apart of this activity.
JUBILEE PARTY
Wow, what a wonderful afternoon celebrating Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Our hearts and tummies are so full with love and food.
We ate, we drank, we danced, we sang and we spent extra special quality time together. It was just lovely!
Thank you so much to everyone who joined us today. Family, friends, prospective residents and the amazing singers. It was a real honour.
Chefs, you did a fabulous job as always!!
We love our home and can't wait for more residents to join us.
We love our mini bus outings!
Today some of our residents took a trip to one of our favourite garden centres Bernaville Nurseries so that we could pick a special tree in honour of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Thank you so much to the staff for being so helpful and assisting us with this. Pictures of our beautiful tree in our garden to follow.
We also couldn’t leave without having a cup of tea and a sweet treat.
Age UK Queen's Platinum Jubilee Party
Supporting our local and wonderful Age UK Exeter with a donation of Jubilee themed cupcakes for their Jubilee event held today.
Some of our residents joined the event and they thoroughly enjoyed the music, cakes and company. It was a wonderful afternoon had by all.
CHELSEA FLOWER SHOW
The Chelsea Flower Show is the greatest flower show and it is held every year for 5 days in May by the Royal Horticultural Society.
Our residents wanted to get involved by putting together some beautiful bunches of flowers which we could dot all around our home to bring lots of lovely colour and gorgeous smells.
They look wonderful.
