Activities at Cumberland Grange Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Gosia Maliga
I have been in the care sector since 2008, and I also have a degree in teaching. I am here to arrange and run a varied range of activities for our residents to take part in, keep them entertained and enrich their lives. From flower arranging, quizzes, arts and crafts to movies in the cinema, I try to make sure there is something for everyone here to take part in, and tailor events to suit each resident.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Cumberland Grange Care Home
Oh we do like to be beside the seaside…
What a glorious day!
When the sun is shining, it can only mean one thing, a trip to the beach! This time we popped over to Sidmouth and it was just beautiful. We’ve all come back with smiles on our faces, feeling lovely and refreshed from the warm sea breeze.
Cumberland Grange Book Club
Cumberland Grange have teamed up with Pinhoe Library to provide our residents with lots of wonderful books so that a Book Club could be formed.
Each week we will have a Book Club session where we can all sit together with a lovely cup of tea (and a biscuit, or two!) and discuss the books we have been reading.
It is always brilliant to receive a fresh batch of books.
Easter Egg Hunt with Local Primary School
EASTER EGG HUNT AT CUMBERLAND GRANGE.
Thank you so much Monkerton Community Primary School for joining us today for not one, but two Easter Egg Hunts!
Residents and staff hid over 70 colourful eggs for the children to find and they found every single one. Absolutely fantastic.
Our lovely resident Maureen said it was a real privilege to be apart of such a great day, and we couldn’t agree more.
Lots of smiles and laughter all round.
Sunflower Competition
Cumberland Grange Gardening Club.
Today some of our residents were busy planting a variety of herbs and sunflowers ? we have created a lovely space on our second floor terrace which has become out plant nursery.
The sunflower growing competition is ON.
Taste of India
Thank you to John, the amazing Community Champion at Tesco for another fantastic Themed Eats and Wine tasting session.
This time we had a taste of India ?? with lots of different foods and dips.
John gave a brilliant talk on all of the different foods and spoke about the spices used. Our residents had a wonderful afternoon and we already can’t wait for next time!
Happy St. Patrick's Day
With thanks to Pete the Poet for joining us today for a fantastic Creative Therapy Session.
Our residents picked up the paintbrushes before working together to write a beautiful St Patrick’s Day poem.
We must also give credit to the amazing Baileys Irish Whiskey Cheesecake that our incredible chef made for lunch time dessert today, it was delicious!
