Activities at Edgbaston Beaumont Care Home

Our team pride ourselves in providing a wide range of activities and events to suit all of our residents needs. Comprising of art and craft classes, pet therapy, outside entertainers, visits from local schools where students attend and work alongside ourselves and the residents. We also have presentations on wildlife and other demonstrations, musicality and singalongs, quizzes, a poetry corner, knit and natter sessions, and one to one interaction, as well as trips out in the mini bus. For our residents who are less mobile we bring the shopping experience to the home for their convenience. We respect everyone's religious beliefs by providing visits from all denominations, such as Anglican, Catholic, working in conjunction with the local mosque and the Jewish community and providing religious interaction. We encourage our residents families to participate in all our activities, working alongside them to ensure we provide the best service possible here at Edgbaston Beaumont.

Celia Palmer

Activity Coordinator

I’m Celia and I’m the Activity coordinator here at Edgbaston Beaumont.  I previously worked as an activity coordinator in a hostel and am enjoying the shift into the residential setting.  I have an arts background so enjoy painting and drawing in my spare time, which hopefully I can share my love for with the residents here.  I also enjoy reading, travel, live music and looking after my cats! And copious amounts of tea.

Life at Edgbaston Beaumont Care Home

City Year UK Volunteers

We welcomed volunteers from City Year UK - Young people are given a year volunteering to tackle educational in equality in schools, they coach and inspire pupils to succeed and gain outstanding qualifications.

Part of their agenda was to look at tackling loneliness within the elderly community and they wanted to spend a day in a care setting seeing how day to day life looks and to enrich their lives.

Whilst visiting the home the volunteers participated in a variety of Christmas activities throughout the day.

Birthday wishes!

Birthdays are a firm fixture on our life enrichment programme and we recently had the pleasure of celebrating Pauline’s 90 years-young.  Pauline who lives in our Assisted Living Apartment joined us for a lovely afternoon of cake and prosecco, singing as we sung a rousing rendition of ‘happy birthday’.

Residents also enjoyed sharing memories of how they have celebrated birthdays with families and friends over the years. It was a wonderful afternoon!

Gingerbread crafts

Christmas started early yesterday, Residents enjoyed decorating gingerbread snowflakes for hanging on our Christmas trees with General Manager, Sarah.  There were lots of beautiful designs but we made sure there was one left for everyone to enjoy with a cup of tea!

Clothes Show

Residents of Edgbaston Beaumont enjoyed a very special fashion show when a local supplier popped in for a clothes show and viewing.  Residents enjoyed browsing the rails and vast selection of outfits and there were purchases too of sparkly outfits especially for Christmas.

Tea tasting afternoon

Residents of Edgbaston Beaumont enjoyed an afternoon tea, but with a difference. To create the much-loved experience of going to a traditional tea shop, residents were able to choose from a selection of teas from around the world.

They were made in an individual tea pot and served to them with a cake or two whilst learning about the history of tea and testing their knowledge with a quiz.

Remembrance Sunday

Remembrance Sunday is a day to commemorate the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women in the two World Wars and later conflicts.

During the day, our residents enjoyed putting a remembrance display together, with their own handmade wreaths and poppies, which turned out beautifully, created in their popular arts and crafts session.

We enjoyed watching coverage of the Remembrance Day service to honour veterans and armed forces members who have died in the line of duty and we read some war poems. It was a lovely day of remembrance, enjoyed by all.
